Windows Update in Windows 10 seem to offer the direct opposite of it's function which is to improve performance and quality in Windows 10 is great in theory. The update sometimes gets messy and is one of the causes of a poor experience when it comes to Windows 10

Be that as it may, coupled with the fact that Microsoft has made it hard to stop their operating system from downloading automatically from the internet, then you’re now in a dilemma. Windows Update also might be eating up your valuable internet data and bandwidth, and that’s a big no-no if you have a limited internet service. You might be wondering as to how to turn off these updates – we’ve got you covered.

You just need to do a little bit of tinkering inside your computer settings to resolve this problem. We also did our research for you to have a guide to follow and to make things easier for you – with a screenshot of the most crucial steps, of course! Here’s how to stop Windows Update in Windows 10.

Disclaimer: Windows Update might be annoying, but they’re put there to resolve issues like UI problems, freezing, crashes and security risks. If you’re confident that you don’t need to Update Windows, then you can proceed with the guide. Otherwise, leave them on.

Get Notified Whenever there’s an Update
Sometimes you just want to be informed whenever your computer will download and install updates. You can easily turn on notifications before update by following these steps:

Open the Run app by pressing Windows Key + R or typing Run in the search bar.
Type in gpedit.msc

In the Group Policy Editor, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update

Find the setting that reads ‘Configure Automatic Updates’ and double-click it
In the window that opens, click on ‘Enabled’, and a drop down should appear
Depending on your current Windows 10 build (version), you can either click on Option 1 – Notify for download and notify for install or 2 – Notify for download and auto install
