Governor Saraki and the Nigerian Governors Forum blamed GSM companies for kidnappings because they did not bring in Technology for tracing calls!!?

He also insinuated that no matter how hard we scream, IG Onovo can't do anything? ( he has a wee bit of a point there).

Although, countries with sensible leaders and security agencies were tracing calls on landlines before anyone dreamed up cell phone technology, Ours were chopping NITEL money then. Now they want to blame GSM companies for their own incompetence and greed?

Anyway, Nigerian GSM companies have their work cut out for them. Since Saraki said screaming wont work I'm prosposing these initial tasks for Nigerian GSM companies

1. GSM companies need to create a system that can disable the hand of a policeman anytime they stretch it out to demand/receive a bribe. (Egunje interceptor)

2. We need a GSM product that can magically fix all of Nigeria's criminal Laws, then dump them in our Policemen's brain so they don't abuse people's right. (Human rights Sim-card for dummies)

3. GSM companies need to create an app to fix all those pot-bellies our police Ogas carry around.

4. GSM companies need to immediately download more brain matter through cell phones so Saraki and other Governors and leaders can constantly think straight. (God knows we Nigerians need them to)

5. We need GSM companies to fix our centralized Police system so that a DPO in Ogwa-chiukwu or Ogbomosho will not have to take orders from Abuja before arresting a criminal. Surely, they can create an App for that.

Nairalanders!! You all need to help out here!! because I'm running out of ideas.

Do we have to wait for government for everything? Even the GSM triangulation way of tracing call is not accurate most of the time.

We should be going a step further with better technologies. With underground phones, you not only have the ability to trace calls, you can also listen to what the kidnappers are saying without them ever knowing. You will also be able to read all their text messages and knowing everyone in their phone book.

My brother you asked for solution. I tell you of a product that does exactly what people are asking for and more yet you are looking for other ideas? Besides, how will the kidnappers know they have underground phones? We convert any phone into underground phones including Iphone, BB and nokia. In that case the kidnappers will have to throw away any phone they find with their victims because there is no way of telling which is underground.

In reality, we know that does not happen because kidnappers like using the victims phone to negotiate for ransom so that people will know the victim is really with them. GSM triangulaution is not as accurate as GPS location that our product offers. Anyway, the first batch of underground phones will be landing Nigeria in the next week.

You are Probably right, But at least it will be easier to know who shot who. That is why it should be Local Govt Police or even Town/City Police. Anything that cuts the chain of command away from some faceless, far-away guy in Abuja will be better that what we currently have.

I doubt Saraki and his Governor brothers will like the idea though

But how can GSM companies make that happen? that is the point of the thread.

Since Saraki and Co think GSM companies should be responsible for stopping kidnappings then may be GSM can fix all of our problems then .
