The Local Government council chairmen in 774 Local Government Areas of the country, under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have commenced mobilization of the electorate at the grass root for the party’s presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, for the 2019 presidential election.

National Chairman of the Forum, Alh. Idris Gana and Publicity Secretary, Jwe Philip Gwom, in a joint press statement, in Jos, on Sunday, said the emergence of Atiku was the only alternative to saving Nigeria from the inept leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Forum said Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has the political and economic experience that will change the fortunes of the people of Nigeria.

“Going by the way and manner the Peoples Democratic Party conducted its Presidential Primaries in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers state capital under free and fair atmosphere which eventually produced the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential bearer for 2019 polls, the grassroots local government chairmen of the party in 774 local government areas in the country have gone to the field at the grassroots to drum support for Atiku Presidency come 2019.

“The Peoples Democratic Party is one party with mass followership across the country and as such the leadership of the party at the national, states and local government areas have resolved to work as a team with one mission to deliver the people of Nigerians from the grip of APC government which has failed in the last 4 years to deliver and fulfill promises made to Nigerians.

‘’The people are going through untold hardship at both urban and rural areas across the states of the federation with no effort made by President Buhari’s government to make life comfortable for the people of this country.”

The statement revealed that the electorate at the local government areas across the country has expressed their readiness to take their destiny into their hands by voting for a change of government come 2019.

According to the Forum, what the people at the local government areas are craving for is a free and fair conduct of the 2019 general elections to produce the peoples choice at the Presidential, National, governorship and state assembly elections and warned INEC to live above board to deliver as promised to the people of Nigeria.

‘’Let us warn here that the voters at the local government areas know who they want to be their next President, governors and representatives at both national and state Assemblies elections warning that any attempt to rig the polls would be resisted by the voters.”

The Forum accused the ruling APC government of President Buhari of not living up to the expectations of the voters who voted them into power in 2015.

They called on the electorates to keep faith with promises of PDP Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to deliver dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people, assuring that all promises made by the party presidential candidate of the PDP will be met within a short period of time.

The forum congratulated PDP Presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku for emerging as PDP Presidential primaries in a contest that was adjudged as the best, free and fair party primaries ever held in the history of a democratic process in Nigeria.

They said millions of Nigerians have been convinced that the man who has what it takes to take them to the next level is Atiku Abubakar considering his wealth of political experience over the years.
