The Federal Government on Tuesday said that four federal colleges of education and two polytechnics had been converted into universities.

The affected institutions are the FCEs in Kano and Zaria; Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri; and Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. They are now to be known as universities of education.
Others are Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos and Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, which are now to be known as universities of technology.

NOW THE QUESTION IS, WHAT HAPPEN TO THE CERTIFICATE OF THOSE WHO PAST OUT FROM THESE INSTITUTIONS 5-6 YEARS AGO.WILL THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT AFFECT  THEIR CERTIFICATE AS TO BE A  DEGREE HOLDER AS WELL OR WHAT?

Fine development,but not trying to sound tribal, the equation should have been balanced: IMT in Enugu should have made the converted polys equitable and reflected our fedral character since the colleges of education were evenly distributed at least.

This is all shit. Moreover i don't think it is going to work. And if it wants to not now, maybe next year or two when a new government takes over. And for those of you who think those schools would admit you as 100 level university students, stop dreaming. You would be admitted as year 1 student(or ND in poly) or would be ask to undergo a 1-year foundation programme before you qualify as 100level students.

t students they would have to go thru a one-year bridge programme to obatin the Btech(in polytechnics)
As for prospective students(or recent students) of YABATECH, what a name to give your school. I hope you all know what it means to finish in a City University of Technology Yaba, in an int'l sense?
