Reports by Wale Ajooma

It has been reported that the Federal government has agreed to N30,000 demand from Labour Union as minimum wage and the report from the tripartite committee is set to be forwarded to President Buhari today.

The welfare and human right activist, Hon Wale Ajoomale has advised the federal government to set out modalities to justify the national workers renumeration scheme by reviewing the disparity between Civil servants and political elected people.

In his submission, he proposed the next level which is for the Labour union, CSOs, NGOs, Churches, Mosques, and Professional Associations to take the advocacy to the conclusive level by demanding for

1. Salaries of elected and appointed public officials must be based on the civil service scale.

2. The highest salary on the public service salary scale should not be more than 25 times the minimum wage.

3. The minimum wage should be reviewed every 5 years in accordance with the Cost of Living Index.

4. There must be welfare packages for the masses on healthcare, mass housing, education, mass transportation, etc.

5. Cancellation of pension, houses and car gifts to elected/appointed political office holders after serving their terms.

6. Cancellation of frivolous and superfluous allowances for political office holders.

7. Reduction and Statutory restriction in the number of appointed political officers.

8. The legislatures must be part time. Legislator should be paid sitting allowances for plenary, committee and oversight work.

9. Cancelation of official cars and houses but introduction of car maintenance, travel mileage and housing allowances.

10. Audit control of all registers.

Hon Wale further charge all citizenry to get involved in taking the country back from the profligates and prodigals, ensure reduction in the cost of governance and efficient, effective, responsible and responsive governance at optimal cost.

He finally appeals to President Buhari to coopt this proposal into his 2019 agenda if God's willing to his return.

Isn't there a knowledge of "PRODUCTIVITY, COSTS, PRICING AND INCOMES POLICY" in this Government?
How can you plan how to wager and spend money without first knowing how to earn it?
Isn't it arbitrary for one to dictate that the highest earner should be restricted to 30 times the minimum wage? How do you relate the physical and mental exersion of the different duties? I am talking about Job Description, Job Evaluation, Job Scheduling, Job Searching and simply Jobbing.
What about Private Sector involvement? Don't they earn, wager and spend from thesame economy?
The simplest way out of this guargmire is Restructuring our 36 States into Productivity, Costs, Pricing and Incomes Centres for progress and unity of this Country.
