Yea if Nigeria should be divided I actually think IT should be divided- into like 6 or 7 countries.

Along religous lines wont work- because the middle belt has ethncities that are both christian and muslim who live peacfully among each other.

but ethnic lines with related ethncities is more realistic.

Nigeria has got to a level where we cannot consider splitting. So i don't think its a practicable solution. It would only serve as an excuse to remain at the same spot. We need to think up more practicable solutions in the lines of job creation, infrastructure development, SME support, etc. Our solution cannot be found in splitting, but in coming together as one nation.

Acidosis:

There is no country without problems

, But the problem with Nigeria is quite different from others. The biggest problem with Nigeria is that nothing good works.

So True,

I say true federalism.

If every state were independent and paid taxes to the federal government, then things would start to look up as development would really come down to the grassroot.

The federal government has too many powers and responsibility that it shouldnt really be carrying.

I watched an interview of a lecturer of African Politics at the University of Oxford on the issue of zoning and ethnic representation in Nigeria. He is a Northerner and can therefore be perceived as biased in his analysis, but he had a fair point about finding an effective means of governing a complex nation such as Nigeria. He pointed out the governance structure in Switzerland where they have a council of elders with a rotating chairmanship of the council. Rotational presidency could be plausible if applied properly and could go a long way in solving the problem of leadership so that the nation can focus on other pressing issues such as development. The solution to the Nigerian crisis lies in simple obedience to the VOICE OF THE CONSCIENCE.
When majority of people of all ages in Nigeria stop their evil acts of avarice, caprice, malice and prejudice, our problems will no longer be our nightmares.

Going our separate ways is not the solution to our problems.

Solution to the Nigeria problem is eradication of corruption. You may ask how; by placing death penalty on corrupt practices. And except that is done, solution to Nigeria problem is far.
