After a series of delay and waiting, it seems the renovation works on Apapa-Ijora Bridge may start any moment soon. The renovation which has started since April has dragged for so long and it seems the workers have all gone to sleep as they are being stuck the same spot over 6 months and still counting. The renovation is being handled by the construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC.

When AutoReportNG visited the spot, we noticed some blasting going on the bridge and while some parts of the bridge are being worked upon. It was earlier reported that since the scraping of the bridge surface and closing the stretch to traffic, no visible work has been going on there except construction workers wearing reflexive jackets, sitting in clusters, chatting, sleeping and waking up.

AutoReportNG visited the site at Leventis axis where the bridge is been worked on, we noticed that only 2 workers are on ground and a security guard, of which they only did a minor work and they are nowhere to be found again.

The Ijora Bridge is one of the only two major routes to Apapa ports which are the busiest seaports in Nigeria. This explains why Apapa as a port city is not only congested but also suffocating businesses and residences many of whom are now seeking alternative locations.

The closure of the bridge has heightened the notorious Apapa gridlock and added more stress on motorists who have been compelled to use equally bad and narrow alternative routes, spending over four hours commuting to the port city each day they put their cars on road.

lol

Happy that JB is on this one and not DANGOTE.

Because AG DANGOTE literally built a trailer park from Burma Road AXIS of the Apapa road down till AREA B.
Whats the point if constructing a road and littering trailers on it like a garage of some sort?

Until Mile2 - Liverpool road is restored to 10 lanes, Apapa would not see that old glorious days.

I'm not disputing that that Nigeria is underdeveloped but hiding evils in one's country is done everywhere. If u doubt me ask any journalist u will get facts. Even in the so called developed countries they have some bad side that u may or may not see, journalists are quick to showcase the ugly side Africa such as malnourished children, floods and diseases to the outside world while they not show the bad side of these developed countries so when u think of bad things and underdevelopment ur mind automatically flashes to Africa. It's not all bad news here in Nigeria really, there are some beauties all around only if ur eyes are not blind/biased to it u will see. Nigeria is not really a sh*t hole as people believe
