PRESS RELEASE

RE: Defection of Dr Mohammed Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau) from the PDP

The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,has been drawn to the defection of Dr M. S Bello, one of our respected party men and aspirant for the governorship of our dear State in the just concluded Party primary elections

Without joining issues, but in order to correct a situation where chaff instead of seed is to be planted in the minds of innocent citizens,it has become very necessary to respond to his Press Release for purpose of putting the records straight.

1. Ten (10)prominent PDP members, including Dr M. S Bello indicated interest and obtained nomination forms to contest the slot of governorship of our State under the platform of the PDP.
At the instance of the State Party Leadership, they formed a Forum to provide a single Candidate by consensus.

2. After their failure to achieve this, they requested H.E M. R. Yero(Dallatun Zazzau) who was the Chairman of the Forum, to intimate the party of their inability to arrive at a single Candidate by consensus. They however, assured the Party and promised to back whoever emerged victorious at the Gubernatorial primaries.

3. The Party invited them for a meeting after the primaries and assured them of an inclusive Campaign Structure and governance if God grants the Party victory.

The Party equally met with all Aspirants of other positions and assured them of same.

The Party never entered into any form of agreement with any Aspirant(s). Rather the Party has given its words of carrying all members along at all times. This, we have demonstrated practically by meetings and visits to Aspirants.

4. On the issue of our Flag bearer's academic credentials, Rt Hon Isah Ashiru was screened along with nine(9) others and also cleared. No Aspirant from Kaduna State was disqualified. The Screening exercise was conducted by a Committee from the National Headquarters of the PDP and took place at the North West Zonal Office of the Party here in Kaduna.

5. The Party denies the allegation of mistrust as it has neither entered into any agreement not to talk of breaching it.

The Party still has confidence in its members, especially all those who contested various positions in the last primaries.

Finally, the Party is calling on all its teeming supporters to remain resolute and United to rescue our dear State from total collapse.

The Party equally call on Dr M. S Bello to reconsider his ill- advised position and return to his home of honour. We cherish all his contributions to the Party.

Signed:
Abraham Alberah Catoh
State Publicity Secretary,PDP,KDS
