One of the students said Kano state governor has not responded to the issue but a media aid to the governor told Pulse the government is taking action on the matter.

Nigerian students sponsored to study at Elrazi University by Kano State Government have reportedly been barred from attending classes due to the alleged failure of the government to pay their tuition and allowances.
A letter dated October 15, 2018, obtained by Daily Trust and addressed addressed to the state government through the State Scholarship Board.

The letter reads in part; “It is important to notify you that from today 15/10/2018 none of your students will be allowed into their normal classes failure to settle their outstanding Fees.

Commenting on the development, the President of Kano State Sponsored Students, Saddiq Abdullahi Ubajalli according to Daily Trust said the state government has not done anything to resolve the situation.

He said, “Please we need help in our situation, till now the Government hasn’t done anything and I swear to God the students are in hardship situation.

''The university sent them a lot of notifications before they finally took the decision, the Government did not respond to even a single letter that is the reason they barred the students.

“Government now owes the students 21 months upkeeps and 11 months accommodation fees, the students are in critical condition.”

However, the Senior Assistant to Kano State Governor on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai told Pulse that the state governor has directed the Commissioner of Education to expedite action on the matter.

''Some of the fees have been paid since, what remains now is the balance. So far, the administration of Ganduje has spent over N9Billion on foreign students and other students in five private universities in Nigeria, which are all inherited liabilities from the previous administration that failed to settle these fees and left the burden on this current administration, which has been doing its best to settle these issues despite the paucity of funds'', He said.

School fees for Elrazi University Sudan

Tuition: $8000
Accomodation: $2,000
Registration: $400

You can see that Nigerian politicians are mentally unstable. Carting over $10,000 per student to a university ranked less than 20,000 in the world, located in Sudan.
Even if you must choose a luxurious private school why not Igbinedion, AUN ABUAD, Elizade.
If it must be foreign why not Ghana, Mauritius, South Africa, Egypt or Morocco.

What is the rationale behind sending students to Sudan to starve them when you could comfortably send them to Unilag, Funaab, Uniben? Gadollar must answet these questions.

Hmmm. . . This is madness.
Give Oyedepo this money times 300 and he will give you a standard university with clean structures, lab, water, power, labs, equipments, brilliant motivated lecturers, and above all spirituality.
Why can't the state govts like kano for example build a clean hostel close to or within Bayero and qive their special scholarship student a special access to that hostel. If possible target the dept with most of your students and make important donations like textbooks and lab/equipment.
I see no wisdom in paying such a fee for some average Sudanese university. Even ASUU will be angry with such a state govt.

Well, because we do things irrationally and out of nepotism we refuse to develop as a country.
I have complained overtime about these scholarship schemes in Sudan - especially those drawing from Tetfund. How do you give someone 9 million naira per annum to study Arabic in Sudan. This oil money would soon dry up and everybody's eyes would be clear. This is a texbook example of wealth mismanagement. There are tons of schools in Nigeria that beat that school hands down... All of them better collect their transcripts and relocate to Bayero university Kano.
