Skyway String Transport Technology wants to move passengers from Lagos to Abuja in 45 minutes with its fast cable light rail project that is designed to reduce gridlocks along the route .

The light rail will travel along the over 500 km geographical distance between Lagos and Abuja at constant speed of up to 150km per hour in about 3hrs,but has capacity to accelerate up to 500km per hour.

Their aim is to reduce the rate of traffic hold up and roads accidents along the Lagos-Abuja route. The multi-million dollars project will also boost tourism through sightseeing as well as reduce travel time .

The Regional Head of the Company , Mr. Arogundade Samson, stated at a gathering in Lagos to sensitive members of the public on the project that Skyway String Transport Technology “is fully committed, possess the technical know how and financial capability to deliver the project in good time”, as long as it enjoys support and cooperation of the Lagos and the Federal Government.

The high-speed transport system is eco-friendly, comfortable ,safer and much cheaper when compared to all existing solutions.

When compared to other forms of transportation, a non-stop flight time from Lagos to Abuja is between 50 mins and 1hr 15 mins while the 755.4 km  (470.2 miles) route through Sagamu-Benin expressway takes between 11 to 13 hours by car.

What do you think?

It's even a scam

This.

Ask yourselves, how many Western countries have such a long distance transport system like this? Absolutely laughable the claim to be faster than a plane. Surely people can see this?

It is totally impractical given the small carriage sizes and vast cost to create the line. There is a reason why developed countries opt for high speed rail lines. Yes, it is expensive but it is proven. Do not believe these lies.

Good project.

Once again, the African gods have arrived to save the day of railway issues in Nigeria.

We wonder when these same working and collecting gods, will help us on electricity.

This is their usual MO: talk in superlative terms about this technology to federal and governments around the world, trying to gain some traction with an unproven system. It's an interesting idea - using smaller vehicles overhead, which require less infrastructure to build - but does not move as many people as traditional trains.

If they get assigned the contract, money will just get siphoned... it's the way of people in government

They will call you names like skeptic etc but it is the truth. Our people will even climb up there to steal metal to scrap. It will not work. Within Lagos maybe but not Lagos to Abuja

The good thing from a safety point of view is that this will never see the light of day.

The bad thing is that money will be looted as usual.

Doing it wouldn't be bad but after they do some site seeing and investigation

They will end the project, plenty people have had this plan, no be by drawing straight line from Lagos to Abuja, so many things makes company that have this idea to change their minds

People will go and start stealing the cables, there is no power to power it, if you do its own power generation, people will tap the current and spoil it, they will put more than the required number of people inside a cabin, they will mess it up in a year, they will be rapes, robbery and deaths, some will bomb it's support beem, militants will attack it's stations, I swear eh, they should just forget it

Why are you so pessimistic?

we like to decieve ourselves in this country , it can't simply work it just another propaganda by the present admin , or can you tell me why the Lagos and Rivers rail project embarked upon by their previous government is yet to be delivered despite billions of naira pumped into it , or is out poor maintenance culture .

Sad but true.

It’s a miracle the quantum of businesses that take place in Nigeria in spite of the lack of the most basic amenity- adequate electricity.

Because it takes years of planning and execution for infrastructural development, not going to a church or mosque for an overnight miracle. What part have you played in any PPP in Nigeria?before you start complaining or social development is not part of your duty?
