Alao-akala Ready To Drop Immunity Over Allegation ! by wales(m): 6:37am On Jul 27, 2010
Worried by the effect of the recent allegations of assassination threats levelled against him and the government, Adebayo Alao-Akala the governor of Oyo State has said that he is ready to waive his immunity and stand trial if a prima facie case is established against him.

Abdulsalam ‘Ladi Abdullah, the state Attorney-General and commissioner for Justice, said this in a letter to the Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command, asking the police to conduct a thorough investigation and forward the outcome to him.

Lam Adesina, a former governor of the state and Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, have, at different times in the last three weeks accused Mr Alao-Akala of planning to assassinate them.

Mr Abdullah expressed concern over the allegations and media reports that followed, adding that he had hoped that the police would have conducted investigations on them.

Last week the governor said the death of his two accusers is worth nothing to him.

The attorney general, in the letter said the governor was prepared to jettison the immunity he enjoys on account of his position if that would be required to establish the facts about the allegations.

“This ministry will not sit on the fence and have its fingers crossed on issues that border on the security of citizens of this country and in the premises, you are to send the report of your investigation to the office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Oyo State as soon as investigation is completed so as to enable the Attorney-general of the state to perform his constitutional duty,” the letter dated 23 July read.

Besides the outcome, the commissioner also asked the police to ensure that the reports are made public.

He said the culprits in the saga would be prosecuted immediately no matter how highly-placed they are, adding that, ‘in the event that the result of the investigation revealed a prima facie case against the governor, this office will prevail on him to waive his immunity and stand trial.”

When a coward meets one he thinks he can beat, he itches for a fight! Maybe Alao-Akala is truly (or partly) innocent of the allegations which explains his utterances!

Interesting!  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

I am not really interested in wasting my time studying the alleged assassination plots. It's not exactly as if any of the people involved is really useful to the state, anyway. (That doesn't justify murder, though!)

However, I do ask for the basics for every member of Oyo State: good roads, good water supply, provision of jobs,   are these too much to ask?

Let the guy in question stop offending our intelligence with noise from the highly substandard TV station he controls telling of 'achievements' he doesn't have.

Tell him to start paying teachers and other civil servants instead of insulting them in public.

Tell him to stop playing politics with the lives of students in LAUTECH.

Tell him to start addressing us in English and show some civilization when speaking.

And pleeease, tell him to stop stealing our votes.

Not everybody likes Fashola, but at least there is a general consensus that he has made some remarkable changes. I wish someone would tell our own governor here that it is not sufficient to just be in the record books as a 'past governor'. It is better to leave a good name shocked shocked shocked angry angry angry angry angry

@080Nigeria;you got me rolling on the floor with "Let the guy in question stop offending our intelligence with noise from the highly substandard TV station he controls telling of 'achievements' he doesn't have". If CNN is a station, will you call B.C.O.S. a station also? Lol. That station is a "state disgrace".
But to be candid,Alaafin and Ram/Lam Adeshina should come out with proof and stop heating up the already heated polity,   Lol

I have never believe this man for once. All his actions are anti-people and anti-progress. Mostly, he says one thing and does the other. He doesn't even have regard for an ordinary man on the street. I wondered how he became governor?

. . . No Adedibu to help him impose himself on everyone. The people of Oyo started heaving a sigh of relief the moment that shameless old thug, Lamidi Adedibu died and released his thuggish stranglehold on the people's will. Alao Akala is a small fry to deal with esp now that his political godfather has been kicked into the abyss of eternal damnation in the arms of the devil.
