Liverpool on their way to victory over Watford
to keep
them within two points of leaders Manchester
City at
the top of the Premier League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stunning free-kick and
Roberto Firmino’s tap-in added to the score for
the
Reds, but it was far from a comfortable
afternoon for
Jurgen Klopp’s side, who had captain Jordan
Henderson sent off in the second half. Trent
Alexander-Arnold scored his first goal of the
season
for Liverpool with a stunning free-kick.
Despite establishing a defensive club record for
this
stage of a top-flight campaign, Liverpool
looked shaky
at the back throughout.
And the hosts were aggrieved to not be given a
penalty when Reds defender Andy Robertson
appeared
to foul Will Hughes while the score was level.
It proved a pivotal moment for the Hornets,
who were
then unpicked by the visitors on the counter-
attack
once they had fallen behind.
Though Liverpool were far from at their best,
the
manner of this result endorses their credentials
as
challengers to City, while Watford slip to ninth
in the
table.

Salah. The Egyptian gets a touch fortunate as
the ball trickles through Watford keeper Ben
Foster’s legs but that’s 24 goals in his last 30
league games.

Reds
lead! What. A. Goal. Has Trent Alexander-
Arnold
been watching clips of David Beckham in his
pomp. He fires in a free-kick from 25-yards
that
has whip, pace and unerring accuracy. There’s
no stopping that.
3. 82′ 0 – 2 [Red Card] Jordan Henderson sent
off!
What was Jordan Henderson thinking? He was
on a booking, had just had let-off for some
over-the-top protesting and then he just throws
out an arm to block off Etienne Capoue. That’s
a
second yellow and early shower time.
4. 89′ 0 – 3 Roberto Firmino makes it three-nil!
What was I saying about Watford playing into
Liverpool’s hands… It’s an incisive counter-
attack
from Jurgen Klopp’s side. Andy Robertson
charges down the left to tee-up Sadio Mane.
But
while Ben Foster brilliantly saves Mane’s effort,
Firmino is on hand to tap in from close range.
