*Urhoghide’s personalized federal gov’t project lands him in trouble*

*...As Youths accuse him of boycotting empowerment funds*


What was supposed to be a federal government empowerment program organized by the senator representing Edo South senatorial district , Pharmacist Matthew Urhoghide ended up in chaos as participants took to protest in Benin City, the state capital

The irate youths equally held the acting director general, National Institute For Hospitality and Tourism ( NIHOTOUR) Kabiru Momoh hostage for hours

They accused Urhoghide of deceiving them to believe they would be given starter packs at the end of the seven day training program for over 550 graduates from Edo South tagged sensitization skill gap empowerment


All efforts by the embattled director general to calm the nerves of the angry youths by promising to personally ensure the senator make available the public funds fell on deaf ears


Spoke person for the youths, Okhalume Henry said their anger was predicated on the facts that they are all aware that such programs are financed by the federal government

"Urhoghide is using us to trade, he cannot use us to trade . We are very angry because he promised us empowerment. Now having trained us there is no empowerment . We are all aware that constituency projects are being financed by the federal government"

Said one of the participants, Comrade Tom Akhabue, " We were deceived to believed this is empowerment program. They brought us to be insulted, it is political strategies to further demoralized us, they will never get our votes

Earlier in his speech, senator Urhoghide said the training program, 4th in the series was targeted at improving the wealth, metal and capacity of the youths to succeed in life

This is also to recall that the said senator who claimed to be having this as the 4th series has never empowered any individual from the well funded federal government empowerment scheme.

He urged them to vote him for a second term so as to enable him continue the program and reach out to a greater number of persons
