A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which has as one of its set objectives, the restoration of the dignity in living, TrueAid International Foundation, is living up to its name of giving true aids by offering pupils in Lagos primary schools something to be really glad about.

In a pilot scheme to touch the lives of pupils, TrueAid International Foundation has successfully reconstructed a block of toilets which was abandoned after it got dilapidated at Bethel Primary School, Ota-Onu in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The ready-for-use ‘new look’ block of toilets will be officially handed over to the school on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

According to an official of TrueAid International Foundation, Mr. Martins Duweigha, the block of toilets was restored from being a refuse dump (which it turned into after being abandoned) to a block of now usable and descent toilets, all at no single cost to the school or to pupils’ parents.

“Actually, the idea to reconstruct Bethel Primary School’s block of toilets came on the day we visited the school to obtain data for our Free School Bags and Exercise Books Scheme. But the site we met there, what we saw of what was used to be the school’s block of toilets was so touching that TrueAid penciled it down as a priority project’’ narrated Mr. Martins Duweigha

“And having seen the need for proper hygiene as it concerns the life of children, TrueAid took up the reconstruction project as a pilot scheme which will be replicated where necessary, such as what we met at Bethel Primary School” said Mr. Duweigha

When asked if what he termed ‘where necessary’ includes private schools, Mr. Duweigha had this to say;

“Our priority for now is public schools, but that does not stop us from assisting private individuals in need, which is what our mission is really all about.”

TrueAid International Foundation will officially be handing over the reconstructed block of toilets to the administrators of Bethel Primary School on Tuesday in an event scheduled for 10am at the school premises. The event will also have in attendance, members of the school’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA) who are delighted by the project.
