INEC cancels recruitment exercise Written by Soji-Eze Fagbemi, Abuja Wednesday, 28 July 2010 AT last, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, announced the cancelation of its recruitment exercise, which has been trailed by various controversies in the past. But the electoral body said it took the final decision on the recruitment exercise due to its avowed commitment to honest and transparent delivery of the upcoming general elections. In a five-paragraph statement issued by the commission and signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Umenger, INEC said the decision was taken after a careful evaluation of its institutional and human capacities, already undertaken to reposition the commission to deliver on its mandate. The statement read: “In its avowed commitment to honest and transparent delivery of the upcoming general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission has cancelled the entire staff recruitment exercise conducted early this year.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/8886-inec-cancels-recruitment-exercise |

This is a good step from INEC. It shows that the RETREAT held in Calabar is bringing the required change that NIGERIANS envision for INEC. Hopefully , this direction should reach an interesting conclusion. |
