Adenovirus - a respiratory sickness was confirmed by the staff of University of Maryland as the cause of death of Olivia Paregol.

It was reported that she had a cough which later developed in pneumonia in her first semester at the institution.

In a similar but more severe incident, 11 children were reported to have fallen victim to a viral Adenovirus outbreak in New Jersey while staying at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell.
