DEWORMING EXERCISE FOR PUPILS FLAGS OFF IN EKET.

Pupils of Primary schools in EKET LGA have benefited from the Deworming Excercise initiated by the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel through her Pet Project FEYReP

In the state, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel recently flagged off the Deworming exercise tagged: 2018 Akwa Ibom Children Deworming programme through her FEYRep empowerment programme ( FEYReP) which was held at Ibom Hall, Uyo.

The second phase of Mass De-worming Campaign carried out by FEYREeP in partnership with the Ministry Of Health AKS is currently taking place in all the local government areas, with the Wife of the Governor touring the the 10 Federal Constituencies on Akwa Ibom State.

Today Monday 26, 2018, the deworming exercise took place in Eket local government council hall.

On the occasion, the secretary of the council, (Pst). Mrs Aniedi Usoro in her welcome remarks thanked the teachers for bringing out the children and the wife of the Governor Mrs Martha Udom for her kind gesture of constantly placing the health of Akwa Ibom Children as her Priority.

Pastor Usoro encouraged mothers to ensure they engage in deworming their wards at least twice a year,stating that children are susceptible to environmental hazards that accrue from dirts.

She appreciated the wife of the council boss,Mrs Bright Frank Archibong, adding that she is following the footsteps of her mother Her Excellency Martha Udom Emmanuel through touching the life's of the needy.

Mrs Uwem Etukapkan, the Director of Health Eket L.G.A during her speech said the Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-Initiative, (FEYReP), is a humanitarian platform of the wife of the state governor,Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel; has touched the lives of all Akwa Ibom Citizens

She said that worm parasites contributes significantly to malnutrition in children, leading to dangerous health conditions like severe anemia, stunted growth and low immunity, among others.

According to her, “De-worming children helps them to develop well and boost their learning capability. This is a great advantage that cannot be ignored because good academic performance will to a large extent determine the future of a child.

The wife of the council boss Mrs Bright Archibong, in her speech commended the effort of the Wife of the Governor, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel describing her as a mother who is always sensitive to the needs of her children.

Speaking further, she thanked the wife of the Governor for her effort through FEYRep to provide free health care services to Akwa Ibom Children,which has brought great relief to their parents.

She thanked her husband the Executive Chairman of Eket L.G.A Hon Frank Archibong for providing the enabling environment, financial and moral support to ensure the success of the event in particular, and his continuous support to Eket Women and Children in General.

She also reminded teachers of their responsibility towards educating children on healthy habits for good growth, personal hygiene and proper feeding methods.

She promised that the current administration would continue to take proactive measures that would assist in the healthcare delivery of children in the L.G.A.

The Supervisor for Health Eket local government council, Lady Charity Ikott and the Supervisor for Education in respective speeches applauded the exercise and thanked the government of the day for its sustainable health care delivery in the state.

A vote of thanks was given by a Pupil, Miss Emediong Uko.
She thanked the Governors wife for always taking care of Akwa Ibom children through regular health intervention programmes and prayed God to continue to bless her.

The highpoint of the event was the administration of deworming drugs to Eket children , Administration of Vitamin A to Nursing Mothers and donation of exercise books and gift items to the children in the area.

Mrs Aniedi Usoro , Wife of State House Member, Mrs Ime David Lawrence, Wife of Paramount Ruler, Her Royal Majesty Mandu Nsima Abia, Pdp Chapter woman Leader, Lady Emem Francis, Female Councillors, wives of Councillors, Supervisors, Eket Female Stakeholders, Ward Women Leaders, Head teachers and pupils from various Primary schools.
