December Facts In Nigeria. by loveinschool: 1:53pm On Nov 29, 2018
Nigeria is one of the best places to be in the world. Though their seems to be more negative reasons why one needs to get out of the country than positive ones, the December period is one of the best times to experience people's happiness, love and how we celebrate our festive periods.
Below are some facts that have remained constant during December in Nigeria.

Fuel Scarcity: The government each year always claim that they have intensified efforts in getting more fuel products during this festive period but it always appear that no matter the supply of fuel by the government it can never match the demand for these important product during the last month of the year. As at last year December, the fuel scarcity issue had to even drag into the month of February that isĀ  whole three month. Lucky, Nigerians do not really go far away from home during this period except for those who travel home.Perhaps this year might be different.

Increase In Transportation Cost: Apart from the fuel scarcity that do occur in December, commercial vehicles always have one reason or the other to give reasons why they have to increase transport fare. Most Nigerians usually rely on their leg-wagon(trekking) for short distances and will only take these exorbitant transport fare when they are travelling long distance or they are behind schedule.

Staying At Home: Nigerians are always homely. Unless where they are going is important you will meet the full family members at home. This fact might appear wrong for some Nigerians who can afford to go to places where they can catch fun. Staying at home means watching more Television, eating food at home, playing indoor games etc.

Visiting Religious Places : Nigerians especially Christians go to church during the last week of December where they will have to attend Christmas, Boxing day, and new year eve. This is always expected as government or other employers of labour give most workers off days or holidays to most of their workers.

Increase In Crime: The law enforcement agents always have more work to do during this December period. This is because pick pocketing, fighting etc increase during this period. It appears that those who do not have enough means to celebrate festive season want to do so through illegal means. More people are also sentenced to jail during these periods. The good part is that organized crimes rarely take place during this period but the bad news is that these organized criminals may actually be planning their movement during this period.

More Accidental Death: There is usually increase in the number of death in December. This is as a result of people hurrying to events, impatience, use of fireworks and crackers etc.

More Events And Parties: The best time to get people to attend your event is in December. You will definitely get the full house if you have informed them earlier. Nigerians are known to attend most event functions during this December period and looking for excuse not to attend is always very difficult.

Increase In The Price Of Goods: Foodstuff, gadget etc are always on the high side during this month. The reason is unknown to the author. Palm oil is an example of a product that gets high during December. The best time to have it in stock is now when it is till lesser than the next 30 days.

More Meat Consumption: No matter how poor a family is,the children will always tell you that they are sure to eat more meat during this month than any-other month. Drinks are also sure to get. If there is any food that one eats once in a year, probability of eating it in December is always higher than any other month.

More Online Presence: If you have been trying to reach anyone online and you have not gotten any response, the best time to intensify your effort is this month. More people tends to be on most social media and read more articles,NEWS etc. This is because people tend to be less busy during this month. Most products are usually released this month because people tend to explore and try new things this month.
