Wrong Engine Oil Is Killing Your Car Engine, Transmission System - Addinol Boss by AutosageNigeria: 2:32pm On Dec 02, 2018
This week on car maintenance, Autosage Nigeria spoke to the chief executive officer of Addinol oil in Nigeria; Mr. Joseph Efobi spoke to Autosage Nigeria on the need to choose the right engine oil for your car.

Here is the excerpt.

May we meet you, sir?

My name is Mr. Joseph Efobi. I am the chief executive officer of Addinol oils and lubricants in Nigeria.

Tell us about Addinol oil.

Addinol oil is the best lubricant in the world. It is produced in Germany but it is marketed in over 100 countries worldwide including Nigeria. Addinol lubricant entered Nigeria in 2018 and since then it has been well received by Nigerians as the best engine oil for our cars.

Why is Addinol oil the best engine oil for a car?

First of all, we have to accept that lubricant is the food of the engine and the transmission system of a car. Any car without a proper dose of engine oil is heading towards death. It is only a matter of time and the car will pack up.

However, it is not just about the quantity of lubricant, it is about the quality of the lubricant you choose for your car. It is a fact that Nigerians don’t read manuals of a car when they buy cars. They only buy and start driving. This is very wrong as it would make you use the wrong products for your car. Such as the lubricant which is very important for your car’s engine and transmission system. A lot of cars in Nigeria today have transmission issues because of the quality of engine oil they use.

Not every lubricant is made for your car. Some cars run on lubricants that can withstand high temperature while others run on lubricants that can only stand low temperature. But what you see in Nigeria is that the mechanics we have here are too ignorant to know the difference, and so they advise the car owners to buy wrong lubricants or just any lubricant they see.

Again, most Nigerians are used to buying cheap things. They tell you it is the one I can afford. But what they do not know is that they are actually killing the car in the run and they spend more money on maintenance because of the damage was done to the car’s transmission while using wrong lubricants.

The truth of the matter is that you need a lubricant that is meant for your car’s engine and transmission system. It is not all oil you see in the market that you should pour it into your car.

Also, when you think of the quality of the petrol we have in this country, it is not helping matters at all. We all know that petrol is imported into Nigeria, but nobody checks the quality of the petrol. Plus, it is not impossible that our oil magnates adulterate petrol to maximize profit. This, in turn, puts the engine more at risk, combined with the wrong engine oil you are using; the car is just suffering too much. And this is the only reason why you frequent the mechanic workshop more than you should.

So what do we do?

The best thing to do is to use the right lubricants for your engine and transmission system. It might be expensive but it is worth it. Addinol oil is the best lubricant for your car engine and transmission any time any day.

Why Addinol oil?

This is because Addinol has fuel efficient engine oils with decreased HTHS-viscosity for your cars which ensures your car engines and transmission system have a long life and serve you well.

What is HTHS-viscosity?

The HTHS-viscosity which means High Temperature, High Shear viscosity of a lubricant is the speed at which all the mechanical components of a car’s engines rotate while the engine is moving the vehicle. It is common sense that while the engine is working various parts of the car will move and rotate to combine in order to move the vehicle. Such as the piston rings, the shafts, the rotor, etc. all these components depend on lubricant to rotate effectively, and therefore, the quality of the lubricant is of corporal importance.

However, some engine oils have low viscosity while others have high viscosity.

The oils with high viscosity are heavy oils; it doesn’t circulate well into the engine. Whereas the oil with low viscosity is lighter oil; it circulates easily and quickly into the engine to ensure the engine runs smoothly without any wear and tear.

This is why sometimes when you start your car, it takes up to ten minutes for the oil to circulate into the engine, whereas in some cars, it only takes a click of the ignition and the oil circulates into the engine. It all depends on the quality of the oil you are using.

How do you know the oil that is meant for your car?

You can know by reading the manual of your car to find out which type of oil is recommended for your vehicle by the manufacturers. But better still, to be on the safer side, you can consult an engine oil expert such as Addinol oil to recommend the best type of engine oil for you.

What are other added benefits of using the right engine oil?

Another added benefit of using the right engine oil like Addinol oil is that it prevents wear and tear of the engine components. With time, all the components of your car begin to wear out because of constant high temperature, but if you use the right engine oil for your engine, the engine is always intact and clean.

You will realize that when a car is imported into Nigeria from abroad, the engine is silent and sound, even though the car is ten years old. Why then does the engine break down just within two years of use in Nigeria? It is because of use of wrong engine oil.

Also, if you look at the surface of the engine of a car that just arrived Nigeria from the USA or any European country, the surface of the engine is very clean and white, but after two years in Nigeria, that surface is already very dark. Why? It is because the owner has used wrong engine oil which is not recommended for that engine.

Does the wrong engine affect fuel consumption?

Yes of course. Why do you think that sometimes you have to push the pedal harder to accelerate the car? It is because the engine oil you are using is no good, and it has blocked the nozzles and hoses of the engine, thereby making it impossible for fuels to pass through easily and flow easily. When this happens, the speed of the car is hampered and you have to push the pedal instead of tapping on it. Remember, the harder you press the pedal the more fuel that is gulped down in order to move the car.

Therefore, common sense would tell you that using the right engine has a multi-faceted effect on your car health and your pocket.

But don’t you think people don’t use quality engine oil because it is expensive?

It is not cheap compared to other engine oils, I agree, but at the end of the day, you spend more money in the mechanic for repairs than the other person who is using the right engine oil.

Your mechanic might advise you to buy just any engine oil around the corner, if you don’t know any better, you would go with his advice, but now you know you would insist on using the best and the right engine oil such as Addinol lubricant for your car because at the end of the day, your engine will last longer, you will visit the mechanic less and your car engine will never break down or knock.

What are other effects of using wrong engine oil?

The engine will knock. The major effect of using wrong engine oil is that the engine will knock with time. When you notice that pinging sound or knocking sound coming from your engine, it is a sure sign that you have not been faithful with using the correct engine oil for your car.

That is why Addinol oil is manufactured. It is the best engine oil so far for locomotive engines. In over 85 years, Addinol lubricants have served engines and locomotive components and have earned the trust of car owners and auto manufacturers around the world.

Most car manufacturers even stamp it on their cars from the factory, ‘Use Only Addinol Oil’. That is to tell you how much Addinol oil is trusted in the auto industry.

Are there different oils for different cars?

You might not believe it, but it is true. American cars and Japanese cars don’t use the same engine oil most times. But Addinol oil takes care of this problem for you. When you drive into a petrol station or a minimart and demand for Addinol oil, the seller asks you the kind of car you want to buy it for, then selects the recommended engine oil for your car.

Instead of using the generic oil out there; save your engine and start using Addinol engine oil today.

Where does one get Addinol oil in Nigeria?

For now, Addinol oil is found in every petrol station in Lagos and some stations in Nigeria. You can also visit the company website which is joefautoparts.ng

Better still you might prefer to use our telephone lines which are 08130305435, 08184897249 to speak to our sales representatives who will recommend the right engine oil meant for your car.

How do I get Addinol oil if I live outside Lagos?

I have used the oil on 2 occasions, one was the 0w20 for a 2011 Toyota avensis and another C2 engine oil 5w30 for a 2014 range rover sport diesel. These are first class oils that are made by the Germans. They also have cetane booster and diesel fuel injector cleaner. The range rover sport in the picture was revived by the products of the brand. But like the MD stated, always check out the manufacturer specifications and adhere to it.
