Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, communications minister, Adebayo Shittu , and over 1000 stakeholders would tomorrow discuss the outlook of social media in Nigeria, particularly it risks and gains.

The discussion would specifically focus on the importance of social media, provide an opportunity for fresh inputs and feedback from stakeholders as well as create awareness on the opportunities and risks associated with the use of social media. Special assistant , New Media, to the minister of communications, Oluwakemi Ann-Melody Areola, said in Abuja yesterday.

She said the growing concern and skepticism regarding the use of social media in the public sector due to the weaponisation of fake news and hate speech would be discussed at the meeting.

Areola disclosed that the retreat would enable stakeholders share knowledge and information as well as review good practice on policies and programme and promotion of social media for good governance.

She said the event, which is expected to hold from tomorrow at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, would bring together all federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and the private sector as part of efforts to achieve the current’s agenda on improving service delivery to the citizenry.

APC should also remember they used it to win election in 2015.

I think there more than 1000 pressing national issues at the moment that need urgent attention than social media matters.

The vegetable now afraid of the SOCIAL MEDIA TRIALS AND SMEAR CAMPAIGN he rode into power with. Goodluck Jonathan was bashed and buried with a coffin online. He was called all sorts of names and the North threatened him for no reason, he still remained a Democrat in the face of trials and tribulations.
I urge Jubrin to do the same.
