The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset developed and manufactured by Oculus VR, a division of Facebook Inc

The Virtual Reality technology is continuously and silently advancing into the Nigerian movie industry. It's disappointing that Nigeria always fall behind at when ever a new technology is released. We generally play catch-up when the rest of the world is already ahead. Virtual Reality (VR) isn't generally a new idea. It has been around for quite a while now even in Nigeria. It's simply not very well known and the Nigerian film industry and for reasons unknown, Nollywood has refused to embrace it. Be that as it may, some significant shopping centers have the innovation where individuals pay to watch VR.

One major pioneer of Virtual reality in Nigeria is Joel Kachi Benson. He is the founder and Creative Director of JB Multimedia Studios. He is the first film maker to produce a Nigerian Virtual Reality documentary film. The documentary focuses on life in Nigerian “Internally Displaced People’s” IDP camps and the terrible suffering of the people in the camps. For those who watched the documentary they said that “it felt so real, it was like they were in the IDP camps themselves.”

The suffering of these IDP's are so severe to the point that you could never believe government burns through billions of dollars to feed these individuals. Joel Kachi Benson says he was moved to recount their story of anguish to the world utilizing Virtual Reality so individuals can know the degree of suffering these individuals are experiencing.

In a recent interview he explained that he had to travel to the United States to learn how to shoot VR videos. According to him, he paid $500 a day just to learn how to shoot VR videos. How long you want to learn depends on you. However, you must pay $500 everyday to continue learning. It’s a good thing he made that sacrifice to learn and he brought that knowledge to Nigeria. For those who want to learn can contact him via Twitter @KachiBenson and it will no doubt be cheaper.

I consider how in spite of the billions allotted, there's so much anguish and hunger in the IDP camps. The general population are suffering to such a great extent. Falimatu, a mother of 5 said "if we don't beg, no one will give us anything, not even the leftovers." The video is so touching.

In any case, it was fun viewing the documentary. It has propelled Lagos based movie producer to make her very own VR narrative about life in Lagos. There was plenty to eat and drink by the day's end. I trust this will likewise encourage other producers in Nigeria to embrace VR technology in making films as it give a real life feeling of the film itself.

I think the north are the soul cause of their problems. They detests enlightenment and education, detests modern technology, detests exploration and development upon having majority of their elders and people in the government paeastatals and positions.

They fed terrorists and boko haram with Intel and they snitches in the Nigerian army, they turn their selves to spies, suicide bombers and ragtag militia. All thanks to little brainwashing and peanuts.
Little wonder why the northern environs is the least developed and parades the highest number of illiterates and poverty in Nigeria. And also the most violent ethnicity in Nigeria today. From herds men, to shiit, to boko haram.
If they can't embrace trends, development, enlightenment and technology of the new Era, then I pray the insurgency hovers around their environs and never escalates to other parts and tribes of the country.
