NIS which stands for Nigeria Immigration Service which is saddled with the responsibility of migration management and the issuance of all Nigerian travel documents which includes the Nigeria Passports. It was formally established under Act of Parliament, Cap 71, Laws of the Federation Nigeria on August 1963.

After due examination of the mandate, objectives and functions of the Nigeria Immigration Service and taking into consideration the new Immigration Regulations of 2017 as well as the expanding challenges confronting the Service in the face of rising cross-border immigration violations, need for control of entry and monitoring of migrants, transnational crimes, the Nigeria Immigration Service has been restructured into eight (cool Directorates and seven (7) Units as follows:

Directorates

Human Resources Management;
Finance and Accounts;
Planning, Research and Statistics;
Passport and Other Travel Documents;
Investigation and Compliance;
Border Management;
Migration;
Visa and Residency.
Units

Procurement;
Legal;
Internal Audits;
SERVICOM;
Internal Security;
Press and Public Relations;
Anti-Corruption and Transparency.
Human Resources Management Directorate

This Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into four (4) Divisions as follows:

Appointment, Promotion and Discipline;
Staff Welfare and Gender;
Training and Staff Development;
General Services.
Finance and Accounts Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into three (3) Divisions as follows:

Finance;
Budget;
Planning, Research and Statistics Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into three (3) Divisions as follows:

Planning;
Research and Statistics;
Passport & Other Travel Documents Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into two (2) Divisions as follows:

Passport (Standard);
Diplomatic, Official Passports & Other Travel Documents.
Investigation & Compliance Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into three (3) Divisions as follows:

Investigation;
Intelligence / Surveillance;
Border Management Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into four (4) Divisions as follows:

Land Control Post and Land Patrol;
Airport Control and Aerial Patrol;
Seaport Control and Marine patrol;
Border Services.
Visa and Residency Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into three (3) Divisions as follows:

Visa;
State Coordination / Export processing Zone (EPZ);
Migration Directorate

The Directorate is headed by a Deputy Comptroller General and divided into two (2) Divisions as follows:

Regular Migration;
Irregular Migration.
With the number of directorates and units, the recruitment process is always a massive one.

Requirement for NIS Recruitment – Nigerian Immigration service recruitment
• Applicant must be Nigerian by birth;
• Applicants must possess the requisite qualifications and Certificates.
• Applicant must be between the ages of 18-30 years;
• Applicant’s height must not be less than 1.65m for males and 1.60m for females;
• Applicant’s chest measurement of not less than 0.87m for men;
• Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
• Applicants with any of the following disabilities need not apply:
o Impediment in speech (stammerer/ dumb),
o Gross malformation of teeth,
o Knocked knees,
o Bent knees,
o Bow legs,
o K-legs,
o Flat foot,
o Limb legs,
