In a maggot bin, female flies lay about 500 eggs apiece daily. This produces an army of hungry larvae that eat their way through mounds of food waste. And they do eat fast! 1kg of fly eggs produces 380kg of larvae protein in just three days!
Do you know that fly larvae (maggot) are also a source of feed for poultry and fishes?..Yes, they are, infact Fly larvae are equally as nutricious as chicken feeds such as mash, pellets e.t.c and other common poultry feeds available.A recent research concluded that fly larvae (maggot) contains 65% protein and 25% fat.And we all know the importance of protein in the healthy growth of our poultry livestocks.
