BREAKING!!! 2019: NDDC Contractors Move to Stop Ekere Over Alleged N5b Fraud, Petition CCB By Wisdom Nwedene The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Nsima Ekere, has been accused of diverting funds meant for the organization to acquire cars, lands and property worth over N5b. The houses and cars include, choice properties in Uyo, Old GRA, Port Harcourt and Maitama, Abuja and over twenty-three (23) brand new Toyota Hiace buses valued N460,000,000.00 (four hundred and six million naira), four brand new Toyota Prado Jeeps valued at N40,000,000.00 (forty million naira) each, three (3) bulletproof SUV Lexus and Land Cruiser valued at N120,000,000.00 (one hundred and twenty million naira) each. The accusation was made by a group of contractors, under the aegis of Indigenous Contractors of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The group also accused Mr Ekere of making false declaration of assets and called on the Code of Conduct Bureau to carry out investigation. In a petition jointly signed by Mr. Omokiri Tombari and Dr. Biodun Akinfeluwa, Chairman and Secretary respectively and made available to Igbere TV, the group stated that Nsima Ekere has contravened the Code of Conduct and Tribunal Act, by not maintaining a high standard of public morality in the conduct of public business in his activities as the Managing Director of NDDC. The petition reads in parts, "Our organization wishes to bring to your notice by way of a petition that Mr. Nsima Ekere, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has contravened the Code of Conduct and Tribunal Act, by not maintaining a high standard of public morality in the conduct of public business in his activities as the Managing Director of NDDC." "The said Mr. Nsima Ekere, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has acquired choice properties in Uyo, Old GRA, Port Harcourt and Maitama, Abuja." "He has also acquired over twenty-three (23) brand new Toyota Hiace buses valued N460,000,000.00 (four hundred and six million naira), four brand new Toyota Prado Jeeps valued at N40,000,000.00 (forty million naira) each, three (3) bulletproof SUV Lexus and Land Cruiser valued at N120,000,000.00 (one hundred and twenty million naira) each." "These obvious acquisitions by Nsima Ekere are far above his financial renumeration as the Managing Director of NDDC." "We are therefore urging you to make public the Asset Declaration form filled by Mr. Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)." "We are also requesting the Bureau to commence immediate investigation on the above information, and subsequent prosecution in the Code of Conduct Tribunal." "This request is in line with the Federal Government Anti-Corruption fight, championed by President Mohammadu Buhari." "That failure to look into our petition within seven (7) days from the date of receoipt by the Bureau, we shall not hesitate to approach court of law for an order of Mandamus compelling you to act on it."
