TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

REJOINDER TO POST BY SHOGOADE123 ON 11TH DECEMBER 2018 ON NAIRALAND.COM

We are Solicitors to Mazi Clement Owunna, Shareholder and former Non-Executive Director of Diamond Bank Plc, hereinafter referred to as “our Client”, on whose instruction we write this disclaimer.

Our Client’s attention was drawn, by various persons, to a disparaging post on nairaland.com, on 11th December 2018 by Shogoade123 purportedly signed by two named persons, one of which was Mazi C “Onwunna” shareholder of Diamond Bank Plc. It is our instruction that there is no other person with a similar name currently or previously on the Board of Directors and Subscribers of Diamond Bank Plc, thus the general assumption that the post was authorized by our Client as he was formerly a non-executive director in Diamond Bank. The post made certain derogatory claims about Diamond Bank Plc, its shareholders and intrusive control by the regulating body. Our Client wishes to state as follows:

1. He does not know Shogoade123; he did not authorize the post and he was not aware of the post until it was brought to his attention;

2. He read the post and was shocked at the calumnious nature of the post as it does not represent our Client‘s mindset or his position, neither does it reflect his mode of operation;

3. Our Client is a professional and an investor with a high regard for corporate governance and in the event of any dissatisfaction, he is aware of the processes for lodging same, none of which includes disparaging publications.

Please note that this false, misleading and defamatory publication has adversely affected our Client and drawn unnecessary and negative attention to him, making this post necessary. We trust that you are aware of the legal implications of publishing defamatory statements in a public forum, and urge that you desist from this in future.

We have our Client’s instruction to demand that you cease and desist from appending our Client’s name to any unauthorized publications or statements, failure of which will leave him with no other option than to employ legal means necessary to defend his name and reputation.
