Common slangs on Nairaland and their meanings
Igbos- anybody from igboland is called Igbo. This is due to the flatness of their head and sometimes senseless comments that come from them
Afonja. The igbos use this slang to insult the Yorubas. To them it literarily means we are slaves to the Hausas.
Developer. Anytime someone is bn caught in a failed cocaine or heroine transport in oyinbo country, people quickly rush to Nairaland to call out the igbos because they are mostly the ones involved in drug peddling.
Skull miners. Na we Yoruba dem dey call skull miners ooo. This is due to the fact that yorubas are always involved in any ritual killing incident bn reported on nairaland. Most especially from Ogun, Osun or Oyo
Potopoto republic. Any state from Southeast is usually referred to as potopoto republic. This is due to the fact that erosion has done more harm than good to most Eastern states
NCAN. Name checkers association of Nigeria. Anytime a drug story or rituals story pops up from Nairaland, people are quick to check which tribe has committed the crime. This can only be known through the name of the criminal.
