If you are looking forward to settling issues of divorce, settling marriage issues, child abandonment, employer and employee issues outside of a court system and you are in need of free legal services, you are just lucky to know that the Cross River State Ministry of Justice has designed a Department known as Citizens' Rights department in other to settle likely litigational issues by issuing a system known as ADR that is Alternative Dispute Resolution.

What the Department is aimed at is to mediate on issues bothering individuals and thereby making a standstill MOU effective as a court order or judgement thereby also bringing togetherness peace and Harmony among aggrieved participants.

The Citizens Rights Mediation Centre is a legal entity established for free alternative dispute resolution services to indigent members of the public. The idea of access to justice is for all class of people. Complaints and requests for the free mediation services of the centre from members of the public increased thereby seeking a way out of settling domestic, commercial, industrial, family, child related matters especially and all other matters. The Citizens Rights Department od the Ministry of Justice, Calabar, has a number of highly trained mediators.

The centre was set up to actualize the access to justice program of the Cross River state Government. The centre thus created the opportunity for cases to be diverted from the court system and enabled the decongestion of the judge’s docket and thereby creating peace and harmony among participants in the Mediation Process.
