Report reaching ABN TV indicates that Abia State athletes and officials are still stranded in Abuja 24 hours after the end of 19th National Sports Festival.

According to sources, this unfortunate development is not unconnected with non payment of allowances and non availability of vehicles to take them back to Umuahia from where they went.

The male athletes ABN TV gathered now put up at the government science secondary school Maitama while their female counterparts are at university of Abuja in Gwagwalada, pleading for assistance to return home. This is despite the good outing the athletes recorded in the just concluded national game.

Recall that ABN TV had earlier brought you a report where the athletes expressed their grouse over the inability of the state government to provide them with basic needs including transportation facilities while in the festival. The state's Commissioner for Sports had earlier assured that he was in a discussion with the Accountant General of the state to provide the contingents with additional funds.
