2019: Atiku Abubakar Reiterates Promise to Concede 40 Per Cent of Appointment to Youths

Presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has reiterated his promise to concede 40 per cent of appointments to youths if elected as the president in the forthcoming general election.

Atiku stated this in Lagos during a youth town hall meeting where he declared that his administration would focus on job creation and infrastructure development.

Speaking at the meeting, he stressed that the youths must be given the opportunity to serve and develop their leadership skills adding that’s the best way to get them ready for the task ahead.

NATIONWIDE STRIKE: ASUU-LASU DEMANDS PAYMENT OF ACADEMIC ALLOWANCE

Lecturers under the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos state chapter have asked the Federal Government to pay all its earned academic allowances since 2009.

The union made this demand in a bulletin signed by its secretary, Dr. Ton Dansu and the assistant secretary, Dr. Adeolu Oyekan and made available to News Men on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in Lagos.

According to the bulletin, the EAA was a product of the ASUU/Federal Government Agreement of 2009, which redefined the minimum benchmark for University administration in Nigeria.

NIGERIAN ARMY THREATENS TO SEND AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL OUT OF THE COUNTRY

The Nigerian Army has said that Amnesty International (A.I) has been attacking the very fabric of the nation, adding that the military has particularly been the centre of attack by the rights group.

According to the army, the military will make a case for the international rights group to leave Nigeria if they continue with their mode of operation.

Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman noted while addressing issues inherent Amnesty International’s latest report that A.I has been threatening the unity of the nation with the way their reports are channeled towards putting the nation’s military in disrepute.

POLICE DETAIN DEJI ADEYANJU AGAIN FOR MURDER CASE FOUR YEARS AFTER ACQUITTAL

The police have detained an activist and Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, for homicide for which he was reportedly acquitted by Justice Mohammed Haliru of the Kano High Court in 2014.

Adeyanju’s lawyer, Tolu Babaleye, said his client had been incarcerated for six days by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

Babaleye explained in a statement in Abuja on Monday that the activist was detained when he visited the FCT Police Command headquarters to retrieve his mobile telephone, which was confiscated after he led a rally against the police for their role in the political crisis that rocked the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly last month.

Atiku will Defeat Buhari in Free, Fair Elections – Niger Ex-governor Aliyu

Former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, has said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will defeat President Muhammadu Buhari next year in a credible, free and fair election.

Besides, he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to discharge their duties fairly in the interest of the nation in order not to derail the country’s democracy.

Speaking with journalists in Kaduna at the weekend, Aliyu said not only will the PDP defeat Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level it will also win in Niger State.

Good promise but who you concede appointments to does not guarantee good governance
Tell us what would be brought to the fore by presenting the facts.
If the structure remains as faulty as it is, even an Obama cannot come to the rescue
