Manchester United have fired Jose Mourinho today after two and the half years in charge of the Old Trafford dug out. Mourinho was appointed Manager in July 2016 after Dutch man Louis Van Gaal was sacked for failing to make the Top 4 despite winning the FA Cup. Van Gaal was not only dismissed for not qualifying for the Champions League but for Manchester United struggling to play in an attractive way. His sacking was long overdue as fans had aired their displeasure at the team on twitter with many calling for Mourinho to be appointed.



Manchester United had previously kicked against giving Mourinho the job and was the portuguese overlooked during the recruitment of Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor with his infamous poking Tito Vilanova in an El Classico game in 2012 used as a reference point.



“A United manager wouldn’t do that,” Charlton said. “Mourinho is a really good coach but that’s as far as I would go really.”



Mourinho’s negative style of football in connection with Pep Guardiola’s tiki-taka was a problem with the latter already announced as the new Manchester City manager, the thought of matching their city rivals pedigree for pedigree became an obsession for the 20 times English Champions.
