Apple has removed an app from their Store that promotes conversion therapy, after a national gay rights protests.

Apple has removed an app it hosted for an Arlington-based religious group after a national gay rights organization lodged complaints to the tech giant.

On Friday, Living Hope Ministries confirmed that Apple had removed the app. The nonprofit’s executive director, who was not notified prior to the removal, said he would be asking for the app to be restored.

“I don’t know why they would have taken it down,” Ricky Chelette told The Dallas Morning News. “We’ll obviously appeal to them to reinstate it.”

Living Hope Ministries is a religious nonprofit that says it helps people “seeking sexual and relational wholeness through a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.” But LGBT groups have long accused it of engaging in “conversion therapy,” faith-based counseling aimed at diminishing or ridding someone of their homosexuality.
