He had it all. He studied abroad. His father owned the bank. He had requisite banking experience. He was made the CEO of the bank which had attained strong international status. So what went wrong?

Was Dozie Snr. wrong by appointing his son, Dozie Jnr. as the CEO Diamond Bank?

Making sound business decisions and navigating Nigeria's business terrain is not necessarily something you learn from schools abroad or from the comfort zone of being shielded by an "all-powerful" dad.

Dozie Snr. believed his son, Uzoma, had learnt all the tricks there is to learn in the trade, but recent news of merger-acquistion of the bank by another bank seems to indicate that there was something uzoma thought he could handle but couldn't.

how creative was uzoma?

how innovative was uzoma?

how discerning was his business acumen?

was he thinking his precedessors had done all the work that needed to be done?

why was he not able to execute measures for the bank's sustainability?

From what we now see, mergers and acquisitions seem to be the only attempt uzoma could think of in saving his father's (and invariably his own) banking business empire.

would he say it is CBN's fault or the customer's fault or politicians fault? uzoma has no excuse. uzoma was over hyped and overestimated.

uzoma clearly didn't have a full grasp on how the navigate Nigeria's aggressive business terrain. he was too "buttie" for it. Ajebutter in the making. A true silver spoonie.

come January next year, there will be job less, salary cuts and demotions. it is so sad to be a diamond Banker right now. well, let's pray the merger cum acquisition takes banking to a higher level in Nigeria.
