Atiku is an idiot to be playing this politics when he knows the truth.

To those who don't know, this govt, unlike the one before it, doesn't pay any subsidy to importers any longer. The govt invariably provides for the difference between what petrol sells and what it should sell. It's like selling below a profitable selling price. And who gets the payment? It's NNPC and not any marketer.
Why did you smoke a mixture igbo with igbe obo(monkey shit) and topping it with codeine this Christmas eve? This govenment already admits that it pays subsidy. It's glaring that some people love deception and you are one of them.

All of you that are shouting Atiku up and down and your saint buhari and cohort ie his EFCC, ICPC and other corrupt practice agencies could not indite him of all your claims, then it's high time we start using our heads and not just bunch of whooping sentiments.

If you are happy the way Buhari managed our natural resource this past 3 years, then my prayer to you is that such shall be your portion in your business and other endeavours.

Yes that's true, but it would be better if we removed subsidies completely, attracting investment, and ending all these mysterious subsidies show

Why is PDP synonymous with low IQ (El-rufai was right).
A whole precidential candidate does not know the budget process.
Does he think any fund can be released without the NASS passing the budget and the executive signing it?
How is it possible for those processes (passing and signing) to come before elections so that funds can be released for Buhari to use for campaign?

PDP will never change, never.

Erm

Your first source is a report about payments when GEJ was in power.

The second report is about the separate issues of debts from the previous administration and the current one pre 2015 before Bubu stopped paying marketers and made NNPC the sole importer.

A debt which would have never been incurred if GEJ plan in 2012 to partially remove subsidy had been allowed to go ahead

Yes, that's the fact. I am ready to do that though my salary go suffer.

Eventually, with more investment flowing in since there are no price controls, things like new jobs, new facilities etc including new refineries would come into place, and prices will fall.

We did that before with the GSM network. An MTN line used to cost 10000. Now it is less than 100. No price control, more investments, lower prices.

Or. Would you like it if government was the one setting the prices of the things you sell if you had a business?

Subsidy, let them tell us how much subsidy was paid per litre of fuel in l999, 2009, 20l5 and 20l8. ..
give us data on the subsidy regime over past years.
It is appalling for a govt of APC who never believed in subsidy increased fuel price and is allocating more money than the previous govt for subsidy...the last subsidy they said they remove, no impact

We import fuel at 180 per liter.

The last of our refineries was built in the eighties. Our needs have jumped up since then. At full capacity they won't meet every need. And we need more than four new.ones, apart from Dangote refinery

We sell fuel at 145 naira

The 1 billion is to pay NNPC the loss it sustains in selling imported fuel so that you guys don't end up buying fuel at 250 and above.

Either way, better subsidy go so that we can use that 1bn for better things. Like railway
Re: Atiku: $1bn Fuel ‘subsidy’ In 2019 Budget Is Buhari’s Campaign Slush Fund by chronique(m): 7:34am On Dec 24, 2018
What is evident here, is that there are some idiots amongst us who have been compromised and induced with cash or other material gifts, to come spin things around and deceive the public. FG is paying for subsidy of a product that sells at #145/ltr when the same government claimed that a previous government that was paying for subsidy when the same product was selling for #97/ltr, was committing fraud. It's sad to see people try to twist this around and try to defend this. These people are not talking about how a few individuals in this government are the ones who are deciding and appropriating the amount that is being paid as subsidy to marketers. This is something that should naturally go through the senate for approval. But because of the clandestine nature of the fraud involved, they are operating this covertly/codedly. Anybody who defends this nonsense, doesn't mean well for the country. Buhari is a failure and a worse failure when compared to Jonathan.

can we see that many Nigerian youths on nairaland are dumbos, they just comment without thinking
The $3.5 billion spent in 2018, was approval given by NASS?
Perhaps you must have forgotten, Buhari's government spent the money, and wrote a letter to NASS later giving reasons that he spent the money due to anticipatory approval from them.

The same government can spend the $1.05billion in question even though it has not been given approval in the 2019 budget.

Brother, it is not good to speak evil due to individual persuasions. Believe me, you deserve to be insulted due to your ill thought comment, you even went as far as tagging others dumbos.
Just look at the mirror; your comment, and juxtapose with Buhari's antecedents, you will see who is the dumbo

Yes, the whole subsidies process has a lot of corruption, which is why BUbu routed the whole thing via NNPC to cut the scams previously occurring.

All this scams would end if government removes subsidy completely. But you Nigerians don't want that that.

So the scams continue in the name of cheap fuel.
