How Politics Disrupted Wizkid & Davido Show In Port Harcourt by holygist: 11:27am On Dec 25, 2018
The Xmas period of 2018 has been arguably one of the busiest for show bizz and entertainment in recent years in the city of Port Harcourt, and all thanks to the deliberate effort of the state government who is doing everything necessary to use entertainment to change the narrative of insecurity labelled against the state in a bid to reassure the public that Rivers State and Port Harcourt is safe for people to live and do business.

But the 14th and 16th was supposed to be a hallmark of 2018’s entertainment in the city of Port Harcourt as the two biggest art of Africa [Wizkid & Davido] was billed to perform in Port Harcourt, but that was never to be due to politics of bitterness and acrimony ongoing in the state as the same people who are allegedly working to promote the state and was supposed to protect this narrative by ensuring adequate security for these events, turned around and used their own hands to destroy something that would have been a good selling point for the city of Port Harcourt.

WIZKID’s INCIDENT

HolyGist gathered that it all started when the state government got a hint that the Mr 2Kay and Wizkid show was been sponsored by NDDC, an agency which is believed to be under the control of some APC figure in the state and these APC figures were going to use the show as a campaign rally.

But whether TRUE or FALSE, this didn’t go down well with the state government hence the need for the urgent withdrawal of its support from the Wizkid and 2Kay concert and the further revocation of the permission earlier given for the Liberation Stadium to be used for the show barely two days to the concert.

So two days to the big event there was no venue for the show earlier billed for Liberation Stadium and this made the show to be moved to the Port Harcourt Polo Club field, an open place with lesser security. This singular government act of withdrawing its support for the show immediately spread the notion like wild fire that the show was an APC show; and this creating a bad feeling among the everly agitating member of both political divide.

The show eventually commenced on the 14th at the polo club but the foot soldiers of one of the political party became overzealous with the intention of truncating a show which has been label after APC, this was how a show which promised to be a next rated event was marred by fighting and clashes, girls raped and people injured to the point that the star art of the night WIZKID himself had to look for cover at some point, what a way to market a state!

The glorious night which was supposed to light up the heart of fun lovers of Port Harcourt ended with despicable incidents that throw mud on all effort of the organizers of the event and further sent a bad message about Rivers State to the world, and then came the Davido’s show on the 16th tagged PLUGGED.

The PLUGGED show was fully backed and supported by the state government, and the OBO himself upon arrival to the city of Port Harcourt went straight to the government house to pay a courtesy and felicitation visit on the governor himself and also used the occasion to solicit support from his fans for the re-election bid of Nyeson Ezenwo Wike come 2019.
