A PDP chieftain, Senator Ben Obi, has reacted to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo's comment over 2023 elections - Osinbajo had said that President Muhammadu Buhari would hand over the presidency to the southwest after completing his two terms in 2023 - Senator, however, berated Osinbajo for asserting that the presidency would revert to the southwest after the Buhari’s administration in 2023 A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential council and director of the campaign of Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP/inter-party directorate, Senator Ben Obi, on December 25, described as insensitive and height of mischief, Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo’s comment on the 2023 elections. New Telegraph reports that it would be recalled that Osinbajo, said President Muhammadu Buhari, would hand over the presidency to the southwest after completing his two terms in 2023. Legit.ng gathered that in a swift reaction to Osinbajo’s statement, Obi in a statement issued in Abuja, berated Osinbajo for asserting that the presidency would revert to the southwest after the Buhari’s administration in 2023. He said: “Apart from the fact that the PDP will win the 2019 presidential election in which case Osinbajo’s reckless and morally outrageous scenario will never come to pass, the mere thought of making that insensitive declaration after Obasanjo’s eight year presidential tenure and Osinbajo’s four year vice-presidency, in the context in which power is yet to rotate to the southeast, is the height of political intolerance and mischief-making.” Obi directed Osinbajo to re-learn the historical circumstances that threw up the Olusegun Obasanjo Vs Olu Falae presidential contest in 1999 and why the late Alex Ekwueme sacrificed so much to ensure that Obasanjo won that election. He further charged Osinbajo to “retrieve his lost moral compass with regard to this issue and also with regard to his tradermoni vote-buying antics which, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), a professor and a pastor, he knows to be unethical, corrupt and reprehensible electoral manoeuvre.” Obi, who was the immediate past national secretary of PDP caretaker committee, further revealed that the “PDP will blend the season of love, grace, giving and sharing that Christmas is known for, irrespective of faith and creed, with robust outreach programmes on consultative meetings, mass mobilisation, stakeholder sensitisation and voter awareness creation in all the states, local government areas and wards across the country.” https://www.legit.ng/1211773-stop-deceiving-southeast-produce-president-2023-pdp-chieftain-blasts-osinbajo.html |

Ben Obi should talk about his own party the PDP, while Yemi Osinbajo talks about his own party the APC. Unfortunately for PDP Igbo politicians like Ben Obi, their Igbo online keyboard warriors have already accepted their political handicap, and asserted that if APC gives its 2023 presidential ticket to a Yoruba candidate, they will singlehandedly ensure PDP gives its own ticket to a Northerner who will then select an Igbo to be Deputy as it is their preferred political destiny in servitude to the North. 1 Like |

Even though, I think it is a misplaced priority of engaging in unproductive discussions like which zone should produce the president in 2023, I think Sen Ben Obi ought to know that in a constitutional democracy, nobody handover power to anybody or any zone. The PDP will be better off by concentrating on their party and how to win in 2019 instead of meddling in APC affairs. |
