THE PRAYER OF A CRYING CHILD

Our heart is as small as the seeds

But our pains is as big as the iroko trees

They say tomorrow we will be leaders

But today we are lead astray.

We are young and innocent

But still tears is all we clean

Oh mother!

Your song I have never forgotten

Your warm touch I still feel in this cold

Your protection I have not seen for long

Cause you are far like the stars to me

Oh mother!

I am cold shaking with fear

I am hot but no sweat on my face

My heart I feel no longer

The heaven has close there door on me

Mama

My belly is filled with food

Food that make a suffer,

The day refuses my play

The night has become my fend

Only the night sees the color of my tears

While the ground comfort me

Oh my mother

Is my prayer getting to your feet?

Or your have close your ears like the heavens

Please don’t forget the home I stay

Remember where you wash away the blood on me

Look at the country we belong with pity

Mummy pray to God to clean my tears with smile

Beg him to remove the pains I live with mama,

Oh sweet mother don’t leave me alone in this valley of tears

This is my prayer to you mothers.
