These are the most popular fears that we have and tips to tackling them.

1. Fear of offending others
• Solution: Be polite and gracious. Always be kind. No matter your position or status, ask questions and offer suggestions instead of issuing direct orders. Be a good listener.

2. Fear of making others look inferior
• Solution: Respect everyone you meet. Treat and think of others as important. Do not criticize openly or point out people’s flaws in front of others. It degrades their egos and makes them feel inferior. Seek to correct and influence people by praising their improvements and good points. Avoid pride.

3. Fear of being embarrassed and relegated
• Solution: Self-composure, self-discipline, self-respect, less speech, more knowledge.

4. Fear of doing the wrong things
• Solution: Your conscience exists for a reason. Get more spiritual. Use your common sense and avoid doing the wrong things.

5. Fear of saying the wrong things
• Solution: Say less than necessary. Think before you speak. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt that you may know how you ought to answer every man.

6. Fear of not knowing and meeting up with your dreams, goals and visions for life
• Solution: Planning! Lead a planned life. Make your daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc., plans on paper and clearly state your goals and visions in life and how and when you intend achieving them. Avoid laziness and procrastination. These are potent killers of dreams. Be an action taker. Always take action everyday towards your goals and dreams. Be optimistic and enthusiastic always and see your goals and dreams fulfilled every day.

7. Fear of lack
• Solution: Spend less than you earn! Make a budget of all you absolutely need. Spend no more than 90% of your wages and save 10% in a savings account. Under no circumstance should you touch your savings. Learn to live within your means.

8. Fear of my confidence, in confronting people or a group
• Solution: Build up your self-confidence and composure through gathering knowledge. Seek for knowledge in everything you do and never avoid learning. Read books on public speaking and relationships. Develop yourself daily. Avoid laziness.

9. Fear of your Health
• Solution: health is wealth. Take lots of water, fresh fruits and vegetables. Take also lots of protein foods more than any other class of foods. Avoid constantly taking carbohydrates and sugary products. Exercise regularly, at least once every day. It lengthens your active years and keeps you fit and healthy. Visit your doctor and your dentist regularly, even when you’re not sick, for checkups.

10. Fear you’re going to be poor in the future
• Solution: Poverty is an issue of the mind. Material wealth is in direct proportion to mental wealth. Enrich your mind every day. It’ll be hardly possible to be poor with a rich mind. Enrich your mind every single day. Find out about how to be rich. Read books, listen to programs, and attend seminars. Make smart investments. Save money.

11. Fear you’re not managing your time well
• Solution: Planning. Plan everything you do. To plan your day, it’ll take you a few minutes, but each minute spent planning saves 10 minutes in execution. In other words, you gain at least 25% more time every day if you spend 10-12minutes in planning. Never waste precious time in activities which gives you no true value.
Let there be moderation in everything you do. Know the things that are important for each particular point in time. Let the right things be done at the right time. Always ask yourself this question, ‘what is the best use of my time right now?’ Make your plans on paper. Get time management books and materials. Learn from experts. Remember, wasted time is wasted life and can never be regained.

12. Fear of failure
• Solution: Experts reveal that this is the single greatest obstacle to success in adult life. Remember that you’re not a failure until you accept failure. Temporary setbacks are meant to strengthen you to push harder. They are no reason for you to think yourself a failure.
The reason why most people keep failing is an issue of mindset. Get a knowledge-seeking mindset and an in-depth enthusiasm and optimism in everything you do and you can keep learning from failure and improving. Above all, develop courage, character and self-esteem as well as a high level of spirituality.

13. Fear of not being in the right discipline
• Solution: No course or discipline can be described as being better than the other. Get to know this. What should be of paramount importance is that your course is the passion of your life. You must have an intense liking for your discipline, not because of what you will get out of it, but because you have a passion. Never let yourself to be intimidated. If you are a master in your course, no matter what it is, the sky’s the limit of your greatness. You cannot make any significant success in what you don’t like doing.

Self confidence is the single most powerful tool to help you succeed in life, career and business. Build up your self will and confidence and defeat all your fears. Build up your mindset. Develop a positive mental attitude and focus on your dreams and goals with determination and discipline.
