Instructions for slave masters. The reality is that the Bible says much more in support of slavery than against it. Even the New Testament Jesus never says owning people is wrong. Instead, the Bible gives explicit instructions to masters and slaves.

You may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Ephesians 6:5 NLT

Many Africans have demanded that the British should apologise for dehumanising Africans during slavery but to no avail.

They never show remorse and are proud that slavery brought some positive changes in the lives of Africans. Even, one of ships known for conveying the slaves was named Jesus of Lubeck.

So there seems to be correlation between a religious doctrine and idea of slavery. After all, one of the reasons for colonising Africa was because their religion was barbaric and their was need for replacement with better option.
