[size=14pt]Nigerian Company Makes Breakthrough In Oil Spill Mediation [/size]

AN indigenous company, Green Stream Solutions, has made a breakthrough in oil spill remediation with its latest biotechnology that can remediate oil spillage in Nigeria, as part of its contribution to the protection of the Nigerian environment from depletion.

This is coming against the backdrop of dangerous effects of oil spills and the over 3,000 oil spill incidents in Nigeria.

The chief executive officer of the indigenous company, Mr. Charles Ifidon, disclosed this in an interview with journalists during a meeting with the oil companies operating in Nigeria by Minister of Environment, Mr John Odey.

He noted that, in the past, there had been little or no awareness on curtailing oil spillage in the country.
According to him, “oil spillage has led to deaths due to its interference with both feeding and reproduction, and the damage of lot of fish ponds due to oil slicks. Fish eggs and larvae suffer high rate of mortality, and yet, there have been very little awareness on how to curtail oil spillage in the country because of the procedure of the communities in the area of settling them.

“We have just come up with some products that are biodegradable, they turn oil into carbon dioxide. This will help in solving the challenges of oil spillage in the country.”
