Westaslave2: The "be" in "Ogbumadube" is actually pronounced as "bi" which means "live" So, Ogbumadube In Ekpeye translates to "He who kills man and lives". Which means that the spirit (Masquerade) can kill someone, without suffering any consequences( being killed itself) in return. Ofcourse, Ekpeye is Igbo, despite the people Bini origin stories. It's obvious the tradition is deeply rooted in Igbo. 4 Likes |
