Is only during Buhari's regime will the dead be involved in politics. Please let the dead rest in peace.
Nigerian senators and smashing of mumu records are like bread & butter.
.

The Coup of 1983 might repeat itself in 2019 like a Biblical Story in which Sheckem, the only Bastard son of Gedeon came back to kill Gedeon's 70 other legit sons. Buhari feels like a wounded snake. Give him 2019, he will destroy The Legislature and The Judiciary. He has always said that he doesn't like Bureaucracy and the processes of Democracy..

As usual, nothing is held sacred in this country. Not even the memory of the dead.
Anything can be a useful pawn in the hands of mischievous politicians.
Disrespectful.

IBB and abacha both ruled Nigeria between 1985 and 1998. D only interval was d 3month interim govt of Ernest shonekan. During babangidas 8years from 1985-1993, there was "Mismanagement of oil revenues, looting money meant for infrasrucural development, depleting Forex reserve, senseless profligacy, crude oil theft, etc." as at d time IBB handed over to shonekan in August 1993, there was no recession.

Gen Abacha became head of state in November 1993. His govt was characterized by "Mismanagement of oil revenues, looting money meant for infrasrucural development, depleting Forex reserve, senseless profligacy, crude oil theft, etc." in addition, there were multiple strikes in d oil&gas sector and d civil service. This was coupled with crippling international sanctions. In addition, d price of crude was going for $13 per barrel. Despite all this, y was there no recession?

After Gen. Abubakar became head of state following d death of sani abacha, there was "Mismanagement of oil revenues, looting money meant for infrasrucural development, depleting Forex reserve, senseless profligacy, crude oil theft, etc." 4d nine months he was in charge. Y was there no recession? So am wondering how u are able to relate "Mismanagement of oil revenues, looting money meant for infrasrucural development, depleting Forex reserve, senseless profligacy, crude oil theft, etc." to recession. Can u shed some light pls?

For IBB's period I will refer you to IMF implemented Stuctural Adjustment Program (SAP) and the sudden rise in world oil price due to Gulf war papered the cracks.
Abacha's period stabilized because oil price was good and the minister of finance Anthony Ani was prudent and only a few Abacha's friends dare loot. Others had to worship Abacha to have the crumbs.
Abubakar's government was transitional.

The BOTTOMLINE is Jonathan's era continued their rape even in the face of post global recession and fast dwindling world oil price. Industries struggled to get Forex to import while traders had a field working with banks to import anything and everything. Coupled with bad roads and shrinking power supply cost of production rose. GDP suffered. etc. etc.

Look at this liar and propagandist. From your submission, Jonathan's govt is the most corrupt in Nigeria's history abi? Something is wrong with your head. SAP was the condition for accessing IMF loans which were required to pull the economy out of the recession induced by buhari policies. In case you don't know, during Abacha's govt, even sergeants in the Nigerian army looted belongings of civilians under obalende bridge. You people don't need to turn history on its head to support your failed govt

Before Buhari's intervention, Shagari had attempted Austerity measures policy to tackle the ensuing economic crisis. Even then then young Onyeka Onwenu produced a documentary titled "The Squandering of the Riches". So Buhari's 30 months was about working hard to restore order by first shaming corruption, instilling discipline in public life, shrewd management of resources, which made fellow officers who took coup plotting risk unhappy and led to his overthrow.

What was Buhari's economic policy then? All he did was seen to entrench discipline in a communist manner. Queuing and rationing of basic commodities was what led to his govt becoming hugely unpopular then. He still made the same mistake this time around by seeking to ration forex and control exchange rates. This was what led to rapid fall in naira value and also a booming parallel market which damaged the naira further. Truth be told, till now, this govt does not have a clear economic policy. All we have is interventionist and rationing which is christened SIP

Am following ur argument. D criteria u gave as responsible 4 recession are as follows:
"Mismanagement of oil revenues, looting money meant for infrasrucural development, depleting Forex reserve, senseless profligacy, crude oil theft, etc."

Were all these not characristic of d IBB, Abacha or Abdusalam eras? Even if abdusalam era was transitional was this absent: "Mismanagement of oil revenues, looting money meant for infrasrucural development, depleting Forex reserve, senseless profligacy, crude oil theft, etc."

Was IMF SAP responsible 4 preventing recession during d IBB era? U talked about increase in oil revenue as a result of d gulf war. What was d price of crude oil during GEJ era? Wasn't it also high? Arent u aware that IBB can't account 4 what is referred to as d "Gulf war windfall"?

How can abachas era stabilize cos d price of oil was good? Price of crude was $13 per barrel. How's that good? Could Anthony Ani as minister of finance prevent other ministers in d abacha from stealing money? How did Anthony Ani prudence prevent people from looting? D several billions that successive Nigerian govts have been collecting from swiss, UK and US banks are about what? Who are d few abacha friends that stole? Did they steal one naira?

Did other govts not rape Nigeria? During d SAP era were there was untold hardship in Nigeria, did it stop looting during d IBB era? Did abacha stop d rape despite international sanctions & $13 price of crude? Were there good roads&constant power supply during d IBB, Abacha and Abdusalam govts? Was Nigeria not import dependent b4 Jonathan became president? Aren't u aware that fuel importation became institutionalised by Abacha? Was cost of production in Nigeria low b4 d Jonathan presidency? GDP suffered yet d Nigerian economy was d biggest economy in Africa during d GEJ era. How do u reconcile that? What are ur e.t.c e.t.c. specifics pls

Let me ask a question if Buhari had left Forex rate to the vagaries of market forces and it spiralled out of control what could have happens?

Buhari caused both recessions. Bubu has not achieved anything outside govt thats to tell you the level of his incompetence!
festacman:
Not good to talk bad about the dead but our history is important if we must move forward as a country. Now let's face it.

One of the greatest mistakes made in this country happened when the the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) jettisoned the late erudite Maitama Sule for timid and naive late Shehu Shagari. Just like Goodluck Jonathan, Shagari who was a good guy in government allowed characters like Umaru Dikko and his younger brother, Ibrahim Tahir, AMA Akinloye, Mark Okoye, etc to loot national treasury.

Consequently, Nigeria was in economic crises in 1983 just like the recent post-PDP looting era of 2015 that led us to recession.

Interestingly at such two critical times (1983 & 2015) of our life as a nation, the lot fell on Buhari to restore order. The first time, Babangida truncated it. This second time around, every effort should be made help Buhari finish this seemingly divine assignment. It is not a coincidence.

Here we go with if and if. Every student of economics knows that forex mgt is better left in the hands of CBN. The fact is market forces are cyclical. The forces always seek to balance each other out. Therefore you cannot have such a massive shift in naira value if the market is allowed to determine price

Don't get worked up by "if". Every sound economic decision considers as many "ifs" as possible. Your use of "can not" sounds like a "prophet" rather than an analyst. The fact is no one would have predicted for sure the likely outcome.

God thank you for given us BUHARI. He has been saving this country for long, in 1983 when looters tore this country apart it was only buhari that came to rescue this country. Same thing happened in 2015 when Jonathan and his goons wanted to destroy this country buhari came to rescue us again.
GOD BLESS BUHARI

The likely outcomes are well predicted in economic theories and text. Even SLS spoke against the forex control then. If no one could predict the outcome, then there will be no theories. I like the fact you do not argue with the fact that buhari attempted forex control. Forex market is like every other market, the only difference being the singularity of demand as there are no substitutes in the real sense. This is why it should be left in the hands of sound economists.

You should pay attention to FKKnoise
He talks from a place of new awakening and real knowledge
Try it shaa. "Read In Biafra, Africa died" for starters. You might gain a new insight of the issue of politics in Nigeria
(I do not care about partisan politics at all, however the person who would place more roadblocks on the UK's quest to looting our money and resources should win. I do not think it is Buhari lipsrsealed)
Besides the western world has been suspiciously quiet on the matter of Buhari, his ineptitude and hateful leadership. It just tells you how much they stand to gain with such a whiteman pleaser in power. The glee with which they announced Buhari's opposition to Goodluck is absent now. No matching Buhari with Atiku opposition. Very dodgy something
