A TOP young Russian swimmer has been brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend moments after dumping him.

Silver medallist Safia Askarova, 16, paid with her life after telling him she wanted to concentrate on her high-flying sporting career in a quest for Olympic glory.

Jilted boyfriend Nikita Malygin – also an elite swimmer but not so successful – brutally stabbed her at least 30 times to the neck, chest and abdomen in her home city of Tolyatti, according to detectives.
