Man United's Post-mourinho Resurrection: What Exactly Has Changed? by obembet(f): 9:05pm On Dec 31, 2018
Since Manchester United parted ways with Jose Mourinho and handed the manager's role to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis, the results on the field have been drastic, with three wins from three matches.

The players look happier and the attacking brand of football typically associated with the Red Devils is back, with 12 goals scored in those three victories.

So what exactly has happened to spark such a revival? We take a look at the key points:

More freedom for the players

The team plays far more freely under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer than with Jose Mourinho. Looking at the last three games, United are more fluid and aggressive in the press. The players have more freedom of movement with the Norwegian than with the Portuguese.

Dominating possession

One of the requests that Solskjaer made to his players is that they should improve in possession. The new coach wants United to dominate matches and that has been seen in the first three games: 72 per cent against Cardiff City, 65 per cent against Huddersfield Town and 63 per cent against Bournemouth.

Rashford as the central striker

Rashford has been the starting striker under Solskjaer in all three games. Lukaku replaced the Englishman against Bournemouth and responded with a goal, but the Norwegian's main choice appears to be Rashford.

More goals than with Mourinho

United under Mourinho scored a total of 38 goals in 24 games with an average of 1.58 goals per game. With Solskjaer, three matches have been played and they have scored 12 goals: 4.6 goals per average match.

Pogba is a different player without Mourinho

The French international has scored four goals in his three Premier League matches under Solskjaer. One more than he managed under the old boss, in 17 matches. And he has given three assists in the meantime.

Fellaini overlooked

The Belgian midfielder has been one of the players most affected with the change of coach. Under Mourinho, he had participated in 13 matches this season but has played just three minutes under the Norwegian.

Ander Herrera a key component

The Spanish midfielder, whose contract finishes at the end of the season, has preformed at a high level and with Solskjaer. He has started two games and come off the bench at the beginning of the second half in another. He even scored against Cardiff.
Ahead at half-time
Since the change of coach, United have hit the ground running in each match, leading at half-time on all three occasions, something that rarely happened during the Portuguese manager's spell.

Mourinho has a terrible character and he seem to hate happiness.
