This is taken too long. Even more than the Nigeria civil war.

For my own opinion. I don't see this insurgency fight ending now because of four (4) key things present.

Insincerity from government.

Is a big business and some very stakeholders are benefiting.

We lack security equipment.

Poor orientation (education)

The Nigerian Army never wins any war without outside help. The only reason the Nigerian civil war ended was the massive international backing Nigeria got from Britain and Russia

insurgents do not have greater weapons but have access to a space or cache of weapons through black market and areas whereby conflicts have occurred and weapons left behind.
the two govts could work together but find themselves in odd situations. Nigeria has very limited access to buy weapons upgrade as a result of US requirements where Nigeria falls short and Nigeria has a near miss with chad and Cameroon in terms of hostility.
Chad is the red books of the US as a terror sponsor nation and chad has its own insurgent battles.
All in all Nigeria is doing its best to convince chad to commit to the fight against BH but funding a joint task force is worrying this marriage amidst other things

Nigeria alone can't end the war without Chad, Niger and Cameron keeping their borders safe, all recent attacks by Boko Haram are done on border towns.

What Nigeria should do:
If Chad and Niger aren't ready to commit their troops in protecting their borders, Nigeria should establish military base on their soil, We need to take the war to them, we can't just sit down and wait for Boko Haram to strike from their hideouts.

When there was a joint military operation by Nigeria, Cameron, Niger and Chad, Boko Haram were seriously dealt with, within few months they lost thousands of men, they only started having gains when everyone left the war for Nigeria.

Why I think The war will likely continue:

Money: Their are some army generals who are benefiting from this war, so they are doing everything possible to prolong the battle.

Politics: Boko Haram war is politically influenced, noticed there have been some constant attack few months to elections?

Corruption: corruption is killing the federal government, no matter how they try to hide this, we can still see that the Buhari led government haven't really done anything to better the lives of our gallant troops fighting this War, as a result of this our troops are not well motivated, when a soldier is not motivated, he can't perform well on the battle field.

God Bless Nigeria.
