SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE SATURDAY APRIL 2, 2022 THE BLESSING IS NEAR YOU BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 21:14-19 "And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink" (Genesis 21:19). Hagar was a servant of Sarah who had a son for Abraham named Ishmael. When Isaac the promised child was born, God instructed Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. This was to allow His covenant to be fulfilled through the lineage of Isaac. However, God did not forsake Hagar and Ishmael because He is a loving and faithful God. Hagar did not fully understand who the God of Abraham is, neither did she trust Him. On her journey in the wilderness, she was confronted with a serious need. There was no water to give to her baby. Hagar became sad and confused. Her problem so blinded her eyes that she could not see the well of water that was very close to her. Then the voice of the angel from heaven came to point out the solution to her problems. God heard the cry of the child and responded with love and care. Hagar saw the well of water and her problems were solved. Whatever you are going through in life - be it sickness, academic failure, rejection, fear of the unknown, persecution, bed-wetting, bad dreams, etc., you do not need to continue in your suffering. The solution to all problems is very close to you. All you need is to handover all your problems to God through consistent prayer and faith in God's word. There are enough promises in the Bible to match all the challenges that come your way. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE SUNDAY APRIL 3, 2022 BEHOLD, DAGON IS FALLEN! BIBLE TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 5:1-5 "And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again" (1 Samuel 5:3). God is great and no other god can be compared to Him. He is loving and merciful, but at the same time, He is awesome and should be respected and worshipped with honour and great respect. Dagon was the idol of the Philistines, one of the main enemy nations who always fought with Israel, the chosen people of God. The Philistines with their god - Dagon, suffered shame and great calamity for putting the Ark of God in Dagon's house in Ashdod. They thought they could ridicule Israel and the Almighty God whom they serve. The Ark of God represents the presence of God. No one can afford to mess up with God's word. It is dangerous to do so. Many people in Ashdod did not live to tell the story of the great destruction that befell them and their idol - Dagon. For friends of Jesus, just as God dealt with Dagon, so will He deal with anything that wants to harass you or oppose His will for your life. What is that thing that represents Dagon in your life? Is it sickness, affliction of the devil, academic failure or bad habits? The good news is that you are the apple of God's eye, and anything that touches you is looking for trouble. Make sure you are serving God in truth and spirit. Do not replace God with anything in your heart, but walk in His ways and live for His glory. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2022 THE GIFT OF THE CROSS - 1 BIBLE TEXT: MARK 15:22-26 "And it was the third hour, and they crucified him" (Mark 15:25). Jesus Christ suffered, shed His blood and died on the cross. The people who crucified Him must have concluded that the end had come. They did not realize that beneath the cross where Jesus died are hidden gifts more precious than gold. These gifts reveal the depth of God's love for mankind. They were not wrapped in paper but with passion, not decorated with ribbon but sprinkled with the blood of Jesus. Have you discovered these precious gifts that come through the cross? If no, you must seek and benefit from them. The first major gift is Peace With God. Sin has made man to become the enemy of God. But the cross has crossed out the enmity between us and God. By His death on the cross, Jesus made peace between the Holy God and a lost sinner. Have you made peace with God? If no, you need to repent of all your sins now. Confess them to God, ask for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Open your heart wide and ask Jesus to come in to be your Saviour and Friend. Now, you will experience an overflowing peace. Then go forth and tell sinners to come and make peace with God. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE SATURDAY APRIL 16, 2022 THE GIFT OF THE CROSS - 2 BIBLE TEXT: ROMANS 5:1-6 "By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God" (Romans 5:2). The previous gifts that the cross offers to humankind are uncountable. Only those who are wise will benefit from them. When gifts are offered, it must also be received. As you surrender your heart to Jesus today, you have the privilege of enjoying another benefit that comes through the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross - Access To God. The sacrificial system of the Old Testament did not provide direct access to God. The tabernacle with all its ceremonies did not allow the people to get near the symbol of God's presence. No ordinary man from God was torn into two from top to bottom. This shows that through the death of Christ, the curtain was removed, and the way into the most holy place (God's presence) was opened for all who believe in Christ. Wherever you are at this present moment, God is with you there. You can talk to Him, here Him speak to you through His word, receive answers to your prayers and help in time of need. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE SUNDAY APRIL 17, 2022 THE GIFT OF THE CROSS - 3 BIBLE TEXT: TITUS 2:11-14 "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13). Another precious gift we have through the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ is Hope. This gift is not an ordinary hope, but hope of the glory of God. This season is not a time to be sorrowful like Mary. She stood crying by the sepulchre where Christ had been buried. Her sorrow did not allow her to recognize the Lord when He appeared. Jesus, the loving Saviour then called her name, and she became joyful. She then understood that there is hope of resurrection for her and all who believe. As our Lord rose triumphantly, so shall we also rise to meet Him in the sky. Therefore, there is hope for us. Jesus, through His death, has given us hope of eternal salvation and living with God in heaven forever. If you have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and Lord, you have hope, you have a future, you have something to look forward to. Jesus Christ is coming again, not as a babe in a manger, but in power and great glory. Be prepared, live a holy life, watch and pray, read God's word and meditate on it day and night. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE MONDAY APRIL 18, 2022 NOTHING IS TOO SMALL BIBLE TEXT: MARK 12:41-44 "For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living" (Mark 12:44). The act of giving is as old as man. God is the Giver of all things and He encourages us to give even if it is little. The heart and attitude with which we give is most important to God. In our Bible passage, Jesus Christ was at the treasury watching all the activities going on. He then observed and pointed out who the greatest giver was among the many that gave. This person was a poor widow. She had very little with her. She did not look at herself and say, after all, I don't have much money. She went to the presence of God and gave all that she had, though it was little. There are lessons here for all of us: (i) Don't say you are too small or you are not working. Bring that little you have, and God will bless it. (ii) When you are giving to God, don't give with a sad or sorrowful appearance. God will not accept such gifts and offerings. Out of that little that you are given as pocket money, take of it and give to God. Do you know what will happen after you have given to God? Have you considered how large and wide the sea is, or the height of the mountains, or coral reefs that are deep down in the sea, or the birds that fly so high, or the arrangement of the solar system? God has designed these things to be so. It shows how great our God is. Everything around us points to the fact that it was in the grand design of God to have it so. It will be foolish of anyone to come out and say that there is no God. When the devil whispers some things, or he tries to threaten you, just relax because you have a God that designed and created the great universe. He feeds the birds in the air and even takes care of the lilies in the valley; how much more you? Just let God have His way in your life and watch Him bring out the greatness He has destined for you. Your own point is to accept the word of God, believe it, meditate on its precepts, pray in the promises, act on it and share it with others. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE WEDNESDAY APRIL 20, 2022 HIS FOOTSTEPS BIBLE TEXT: 1 PETER 2:21-25 "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps" (1 Peter 2:21). In the ancient times, the best way to track the movement of an animal or a person is by following the footprints left by the footsteps. To follow Jesus, we must follow His footsteps. This does not mean we should go to Jerusalem and begin to look for the footprints of Jesus. What it means is to look at the commandments and practices that Christ left behind for His disciples which has been passed to us from generation to generation. The interesting part is that all the commandments and directions given by Jesus to us are written in the Bible. All we need do as children who want to follow after the footsteps of Jesus is to read and obey all that is written in the Bible. Jesus Himself said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life". No one can get to the Father (God) without Jesus. Praise ye the LORD" (Psalm 150:6). Can you number the hairs on your head? Can you pay for the air that you breathe in? Can you number the stars in the sky? Can you control the weather? Definitely, your answer to these questions is a capital NO! If this is so, then you have no reason not to praise God. God, in His wisdom, has made provision for these things to support our existence here on earth. Praise should be a powerful response of the heart expressing joy, gratitude and the desire for communion with our Lord. In addition to praising God with our songs and musical instruments, we can praise God with a life of love and joy, with spiritual hunger for His kingdom and His righteousness. In good times, praise God. In bad times, praise God. Praise God always. That is the only way you can show God that you believe and trust Him. When you appreciate God for what He has done yesterday, He will do more for you today. Don't be ungrateful. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FRIDAY APRIL 22, 2022 THE WHOLE ARMOUR BIBLE TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:10-18 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). Any soldier who is to go to war will put on his armour to show that he is ready for battle. His helmet and weapons will show the level of his preparedness. He will be able to face the enemy if he has the whole armour on. But if he is not properly dressed up for battle, he might come back with injuries on different parts of his body or even die on the battle field. This type is a physical battle. The warfare that believers are engaged in is a spiritual one. So, we do not need the physical weapons. Our weapons are salvation, gospel of peace, prayer, truth, righteousness, faith and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. The devil cannot stand the word of God. But the word will only carry power in the mouth of a child of God. The question is, are you child of God? If you want to experience the power of the word of God, you need to give your life to Jesus. SINCERE MILK: CHILDREN'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE SATURDAY APRIL 23, 2022 THE ANTS BIBLE TEXT: PROVERBS 6:6-11 "Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise" (Proverbs 6:6). Ants are wonderful creatures, they know where and when to work, build, store food, etc. Yes, they might be very small and not important, but there is a whole lot to learn from them. For example, the way they are coordinated, organized and united. No wonder the Bible made reference to them. Ants are not lazy, they are not clueless, they don't procrastinate, they have an idea of what they want, and without wasting time, they work towards that goal. Are you experiencing failure in your school work? Or having challenges in being behind in all things? Be like the ants, rise up, push laziness aside, spend less time in watching movies or playing games. Do the things that Mom and Dad asked you to do. Do your assignments and do your extra-study so that you can come out the best in your class or among your peers. More importantly, be prompt and consistent in doing quiet time, daily Bible reading, visitation and sharing the love of Jesus with sinners.
