Ondo State has given the nod to Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo for the construction of a 16,000 bed space hostel for students of the institution to alleviate their accommodation problems.

This new year gift was disclosed in Owo by the Chairman of the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, Mr Banji Alabi in a new year message to the polytechnic community.

Alabi further revealed that the foundation of the hostel which was meant to accommodate all students on campus and address their accommodation challenges will be laid by the first quarter of the year.

The Chairman said Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave the go ahead order of the project to the institution to make it a leading research institute.

Also, he said the polytechnic would in addition build a new vocational and Entrepreneurship Centre, a well equipped staff club and a pension scheme for retirees to make the institution a conducive learning environment.

Alabi, who vowed to turn the polytechnic into one of the greatest places to work, said plans were afoot to digitalise the institution’s system to ensure that students and lecturers have access to information with minimum efforts.

On security, he said the council was poised to join efforts with the state government to counter new threats by terror gangs.

“The governing council will enhance security at the polytechnic community, and be much more a part of the state’s coalition team against terrorism. We are resolute in opposing the forces of darkness, evil, robbery, murder, and other vices in the state” he stated.

Alabi showered encomiums on the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his benevolence and support to the polytechnic community and called on staff and students to reciprocate by working hard to make the institution a citadel of knowledge.

God will punish all these bastards that steal Nigeria's money and our tax. imagine in this century, giving out beds as if they are internally displaced. The level of education is poor. Basic amenities zero. Charity and genuine humanitarian gestures absent. Iron nonsense bed that even there maids at home can never sleep on..When elections are around the corner, you see them doing all sought of stupid and irritating projects. PEANUT projects. and last last you will see the supposed youth sacrificing their time and energy to campaign for those idiots. if you are a youth and you campaign for them again, God will also punish you. Sharing beds for students when they need a good and upgraded learning atmosphere. intensive and practical skill acquisition. sharing beds? can those people who died in jos yesterday sleep on bed again? can their loved ones even sleep on bed? can our soldiers sleep on bed? is this even the time to sleep? bed kill you there! bed that is iron -welded iron -doublebunk- in a cockroach infested room and with no constant electricity supply.
