About The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme 2019
The Tony Elumelu Foundation is the leading philanthropic institution in Africa championing Entrepreneurship. It was founded in 2010 by Tony O. Elumelu, CON, an Entrepreneur, Investor and Philanthropist who is passionate about Africa’s Economic Development.

Our long-term investment in empowering African Entrepreneurs is emblematic of Tony Elumelu’s philosophy of Africapitalism, which positions Africa’s private sector, and most importantly entrepreneurs, as the catalyst for the social and economic development of the continent.

In 2015, TEF consolidated its various programmes and initiatives and made investing in Africa’s next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders a priority.

The future of the Tony Elumelu Foundation centers on the provision of structured, robust, and multifaceted support to entrepreneurs around Africa through the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme.

The vision for the Foundation is to unlock the obstacles that Africa’s Entrepreneurs face as they grow their start-ups into small to medium enterprises (SMEs), their SMEs into national growth companies, and their national growth companies into African multinationals.

We will continue to support our growing numbers of programme alumni, whose inspirational success stories serve as encouragement to upcoming entrepreneurs and demonstrate the effectiveness of our interventions. As we deepen our reach in Africa, we will continue to enrich these alumni networks, facilitating meaningful conversations and mentor relationships to further assist tomorrow’s business leaders and build an impactful pan-African entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Programme Eligibility – The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme 2019

1- Who can apply?

The programme is open to all citizens and legal residents of any one of the 54 African countries. The proposed business must be registered and operate in Africa.

2- Is there an age restriction for applicants?

Yes. Applicants must be 18 years old and must not be considered a minor in their country of residence. There is no upper-limit age restriction.

3- Is there a restriction on the types of business/industry?

Yes. The programme is not open to research institutions, faith based organisations, value adding trading companies, government contractors and businesses not located in Africa. Businesses must not adversely affect the environment, lives and property. Business ideas must be for profit, and must be the original work of those making the submission.

4- Is there a restriction on the age of my business?

Yes. All businesses must be business ideas or an early stage company, in the range of 0 to 3 years old.

5- What if I run multiple early-stage businesses?

Your application must focus on ONE business only. We advise choosing your best, most feasible/innovative business idea. Selected entrepreneurs are not permitted to apply for future cohorts of the programme, even with a different business idea or name.

6- Will my start-up be excluded if I have a relation/family member who works for the TEF?

Yes. Current employees or their family members from the Tony Elumelu Foundation and affiliate companies in the Heirs Holdings Group and UBA Group are not eligible to apply for the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme, either individually or as part of a team

1- How do I apply for the programme?

You must complete an application form by answering a series of mandatory questions.

After submission, you will receive a confirmation email of receipt within 1 working day.

Correct and Strategic Answers To TEEP 2020 Psychometric and Business Knowledge Aptitude and Cognitive Test by a TEF Alumni.

Before you start the application, look at all the things that have changed about this years grant application.

Really everything has changed.

It is no longer business as usual. The real Tony Elumelu Foundation $5,000 Grant competition has just begun. Only rugged entrepreneurs will make it to the finals.

By 1st of January, 2020:

1.You will apply through www.tefconnect.com; but no selection will be made at this point (unlike before that the winners will be announced after this first level)

2. Everyone that applied will undergo and online training and it will be marked (they don’t mark it before)

3. Successful entrepreneurs from the training will be selected to come and pitch their idea live (this is a new component of the programme. Many will be dropped at this stage and final winners will be announced.

4. They will attend the Entrepreneurship Forum

5. Do their Documentation and finally will receive the seed capital alert of $5000 USD.

6. They will be added to the Alumni Network.
