I think it should read Nigerians in Lagos and Abuja ..As most states in Nigeria don't have cinemas. Lagos and Abuja with easily cater for 80 percent of that figure released

some other States have cinemas as well.

Its like the black race is under a curse, and this is why we are backward.

There was another thread sometimes ago on Naira land explaining the amount of billions of Naira Nigerians spent on alcoholic drinks.

And these same people like to criticize successive government for budgeting billions of Naira on fueling of Generator and feeding in Aso Rock.

After spending all that money, what have they gained?

I said $3m to cover all bases. Even with these figures some people are rejoicing -- that's insane. I sometimes wonder where all the money our celebrities flaunt all over the place come from because it can not come from such paltry revenue as this. These figures make me want to shed tears in angst for my country.

Oh okay, I get it now. And yeah, most celebrities, especially the females don't make money from movies, they have other "side hustles". We just have different priorities in Nigeria. For instance, BBN made more than a billion Naira in 3 months on air, can't remember the actual figure.

These are very meagre earnings. Less than $3m for a whole country that calls itself the giant of Africa. We have a really really long way to go.
50% is from SW, that means if other region had joined, it would have been more.

That's a very poor outcome for the cinema business in Nigeria. Showing that it's still a thing of luxury to go out and watch a good movie.

It is a re- emerging market in its development stage, anyone should expect this. malls and superstores are all in the same category. It’s not about wasting money. The season is one which money is spent and so expect the money to go where people want to pleasure and also retail. I would expect Netflix to make more money than Cinema in the US this period, this is because the Cinema are already a developed market in the US. Lionheart that many watched is showing on Netflix. Remember the likes of Pen cinema, national film house, museum and the rest...these businesses were killed. For a long time there were no cinemas in Nigeria.
