2011: Group Gives Jonathan Ultimatum To Declare Ambition ! by wales(m): 7:04am On Aug 10, 2010
A group, Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Movement, has given President Goodluck Jonathan a nine- week ultimatum to declare his intention to contest the 2011 presidential election.

The group gave the ultimatum in a communique issued at the meeting of its coordinating committees in Abuja on Monday.

In the communique read by its National Coordinator, Arede Edeinmene, the JSPM, also advised former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida and ex-Vice-President, Abubakar Atiku to drop their presidential ambition.

The group said that Babangida and Abubakar had nothing new to offer the people. It threatened to mobilize the youths against the former president or vice- presidents.

It stated that Jonathan‘s timely disclosure of his presidential ambition would assist in assuring the President‘s supporters, especially youths and their organizations.

The group said that the public declaration by the President would bring the much needed national balance and give the pro-Jonathan groups a sense of direction.

While advising IBB and Atiku to drop their political ambitions, it stated that the JSPM reviewed recent political events and came to the conclusion that politicians would have to exercise caution in their utterances.

It said that it was supporting Jonathan because of the generational shift which he represented.

The JSPM said, ”On generational shift we stand. Jonathan and Sambo represent the new age movement. The old and retired war horses have no business again in

According to the group, Among presidential aspirants, only Jonathan that has the credibility.

It said, ”He has demonstrated a sense of nationalism in his choice of appointments. He has restored confidence in the electoral system with the choice of Prof. Attahiru Jega as the INEC Chairman. He has shown that he is a listening President who feels the pulse of the people. He is not vindictive and he has a strong spirit of tolerance.”

Question #1: Is it not constitutional for the incumbent president to contest for " their" second tenure in office?

This administration is the first tenure of Yaradua/Jonathan; are they supposed to back off and pack their baggage before their due time in any case?

Our president is not going to be made the scape goat and thus get ridiculed out of office and in this case out of his and their administrations constitutional right.

God Bless Nigeria!

Stop wasting your time.
You can not ask a chicken to give birth to a lion. It is absolutely impossible.

It isn't in Uncle Goodluck's nature to lead or to make touch decisions.

Uncle Goodluck as our president will be like pushing a  pickup truck that has no battery, but full of people with high expectations.

Uncle Jonathan has been our president for over 6 months and he hasn't made a single decision of his own.

Nigeria at this point needs iron hand, a tough entity that isn't scared to pull the trigger at anytime, an entity that completely understands our system/ our people/ our country, an entity that has stamina and experience.

Again, we can not afford to waste anymore time, Nigeria deserves a real leader to take over in 2011.
