opribo: If ASUU should call off the strike without getting all their demands met then let it be known that ASUU is apolitical and therefore must be proscribed.
They careless about the students whom they claim they are fighting for. They are selfish and only after what they can get knowing full well that election is coming.
When Atiku takes over a proactive measure will be put in place to ensure all these trade unions cum associations such as ASUU, NBA, MMA, PENGASSAN, NUPENG, etc cannot ever hold the nation to ransom under the guise of strike.
For them to agree on strike nationwide all the state chapters must agree and sign and present it to government and not a few at the headquarters using the association to enrich themselves. Check the picture |

InoutNaija: The Federal Government has reached an agreement with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Addressing journalists on Monday evening after the meeting with the striking lecturers in Abuja, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the majority of their demands have been met including the release of N15.4 billion for payment of salary shortfalls.
According to him, the Federal Government is also in the process of releasing another N20 billion for payment of earned allowances for university lecturers.
Meanwhile, the ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the National Executive Committee of the union will review their decisions based on the new commitment by the government.
According to him, it is only after that meeting of the ASUU leadership that the union will announce its position on the ongoing strike action.
Its been over two months since the union went on strike following the alleged inability of the government to respond to its demands.

ceejeck: It not like they would use the money to improve the schools.
Please what is that money for? And you think #15 billion naira can have any meaningful impact on the universities? Divide #15 billion by 36 federal universities. That leaves you with less than #500 million naira on the average. That's far less than what's being spent on the development of very good private universities in Nigeria per annum. ASUU leaders are only good at bargaining for peanuts, only meant for secondary school development. This is why no Nigerian public university will rank among the best in Africa and will always come behind the best universities in South Africa, Egypt, Uganda, Kenya and even Ghana. 2 Likes |

I've always maintained that ASUU is fighting for Nigerian students, but people think I don't know what I'm saying. Now that their salary has been taken of, and their earned allowances are to be paid, they decided they would consider. In the end how has this benefited Nigerian Students? I hope everyone will soon realize that ASUU is not on the side students, they are only fighting for their own pockets
According to him, it is only after that meeting of the ASUU leadership that the union will announce its position on the ongoing strike action.
Its been over two months since the union went on strike following the alleged inability of the government to respond to its demands.
